Today we’d like to introduce you to Blair Mitcham.
Blair, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In 2013, I was graduating college (late bloomer went back to college at 24) and planning my wedding. The wedding I had been dreaming about since I was a child! I fell in love with the process, sourcing my favorite vendors and creating my perfect day. I had tiptoed around events for a long time but finally found my calling as a planner.
After my wedding I researched certificate and degree programs in my area to start my journey in the events industry. I found a certificate program at Massasoit College with Karen Salhaney and an introduction into networking and ILEA (international Live Events Association). ILEA has helped my business grow along with my amazing personal relationships with my industry leaders.
My dreams started to become reality and BAM Events was created in late 2015. During my time in the certificate program I worked fearlessly with couples & clients who trusted me and helped me get off the ground!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has pot holes. Struggles; as all small businesses have, finding my niche in the big world, marketing dollars and the work/life balance. Providing the highest level of customer service in a fast moving, millennial world is something we are all adjusting too and is a small struggle in the grand scheme.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with BAM Events – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
BAM Events is a full service event planning company, we also offer partial planning and day of management.
We LOVE weddings, specifically outdoor backyard weddings, we are really good at those. BAM also coordinates wedding and baby showers, we help a lot of families through their whole life transitions. Those relationships I’ll never take for granted.
I am really proud of my little company and the weddings & events we have accomplished! My attention to detail, little sass and caring persona make me stand out to my clients and colleagues.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The future of BAM Events is always evolving and growing into a few different areas. I have also found a bit of love for the catering and service side of the weddings so we’ll see where that might take us!
