Meet Cailin Pagel of CailinsColor in Dorchester

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cailin Pagel.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Cailin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As a high school student I landed my first job at the local tanning salon in South Boston, The Tan Man. I ended up working there well into college until they closed which is when I started CailinsColor. It was my bosses at The Tan Man, owners Kerri and Kevin Nee who instilled the love of spray tan in me. They were always encouraging me to take my skills and training to the next level while making sure that our customers were always extremely happy with their new glow.

It is crazy for me to say that I have been spray tanning for about ten years now. It is an art that now comes natural to me. I pride myself on making my customers feel comfortable before and during their session and confident when leaving with their beautiful tans. Being able to contribute to so many of my customers significant life events such as weddings and bachelorettes brings me such joy. Starting CailinsColor has been one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting and keeping a business going is no easy task, especially when it comes along side a full time job as a registered nurse in Boston. I often struggle with how far I am willing or able to take CailinsColor. I do see big things coming in the future.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about CailinsColor – what should we know?
I am most proud of being able to make my first timers feel safe in my hands. I do feel like my background as a nurse helps in this aspect. Many times it is a very important event that a customer decides last minute that they would like a spray tan. When it is also their first time this can lead to spray tan anxiety concerning being orange, uneven or even blotchy. I can proudly say that I have never had a customer complain about any of these potential downsides to spray tan. Better yet, customers usually thank me for giving them the confidence to go through with the spray tan because of how amazing they feel afterwards.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I owe the most credit to my former bosses at the Tan Man, Kerri and Kevin Nee. They always pushed me to try new things while also provideing me with the tools to create beautiful spray tans. Without them CailinsColor wouldn’t exist. Also to my friends and family for constantly trusting in my abilities to get them their natural glows and for referring clients to me on a regular basis.
