Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Kauffman.
Christina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Being fair skinned and wanting to avoid risky UV tanning beds- I sought out to find a spray tanning salon that could provide me with instant, natural looking ‘tan’ results. After having no luck in the Boston area, I began researching products instead of places. I quickly decided that if nowhere else was going to provide the results I desired, then I would just have to be the one to do it! What started in 2010 as my own selfish endeavor to have a natural looking spray tan, has grown into one of the most well-known brands in the sunless tanning industry! With 20 studios spanning 15 states, we have created a nationwide team of beauty professionals determined to prove that fake tans can look real!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a wife and mom of two, I always struggled with work/life balance! I have missed out on spending time with family and friends to focus on growing my company, and on other occasions I have sacrificed business opportunities to be there for my family and friends- It’s a constant pull in both directions and very tough to decide which should be the priority in the moment. I think many business owners and working parents can relate!

Our tagline is ‘Real people. Real ingredients. Fake tans.’ This really encompasses all that our brand stands for- we are just a bunch of regular women with normal bodies, who want to look and feel our best without sacrificing our health in the process! We are proud to be known for being so kind-hearted and non-judgmental that strangers are comfortable undressing in front of us! We value top notch customer service, natural ingredients, and ‘keeping it real’ in an industry full of fake ideals.
How do you, personally, define success?
I used to feel that ‘success’ meant being a billionaire and a household name, but recently my thoughts have changed on the subject. I spent the past few years traveling coast to coast, expanding my brand and working non-stop. My company saw some amazing growth, but my personal relationships really suffered. While I do still have goals to grow my company, I realized that I was not willing to sacrifice the ‘success’ of my personal life for my business and have somewhat realigned my vision for the future. This year I sold my furthest location and opened an office ten minutes from my home. Business is booming and I can still get home to meet my kids when they get off the bus!
