Today we’d like to introduce you to Caitlin Greene.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Caitlin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Well for starters, I grew up in a family of chefs. My mom and dad were big cooks, and my brothers both went to culinary school. I started cooking when I was six…pancakes were my first dish! (I still love pancakes!) When I was in college I began to become more interested in a whole foods approach to healthy living. After college I became a competitive racer (running, biking, duathlons) and I worked at a health food store. It was then that I really started creating my own recipes.
I worked in marketing and public relations as my first corporate jobs after college. However, when my dad got sick about 5 1/2 years ago, I left my corporate job, because well, I was not happy! I worked for a wellness company for a while, I got my license in personal training, I went back to school for a bit, I taught middle school for about one school year, I started a dog walking company (which I still own and manage) and I began cooking privately for a couple families.
I suffered from an eating disorder for a few years, and when I began my journey of healing was when I began my Instagram. It began as my own record of healing, and it has restored my love for cooking and introduced me to my love for food photography. I started to share healthy recipes and I launched my own food blog in January 2017. Over the past year and a half it has evolved into something much greater and become not only my full-time business, but my passion. I get excited to wake up and do my job everyday! I still do private cooking on the side, and I spend my days creating recipes, styling food and taking pictures.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As I mentioned, I suffered an eating disorder and to be honest that has been the biggest struggle along the way. However, starting my business also helped my healing process and being able to share my love for food in a healthy way is so fulfilling. I’ve also had an opportunity to be able to share my own experience with others who might be suffering disordered eating of their own.
I think the biggest struggle when you’ve had your own issues with food and control, is working around food all day long. However for me I do believe it has been the greatest gift I could have given myself. I’m passionate about health, whole foods, exercise and about helping others. I can do all of the above through my business.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Food Infinitude – what should we know?
My company is Food Infinitude. Under that umbrella I have a food blog, I am an Instagram influencer (@starinfinitefood) and I also do private cooking on the side. I specialize in creating healthy recipes and I also do food styling. I share daily dishes on Instagram where I work with a number of brands that I feel passionate about. I also keep a record of my favorite recipes or products on my blog. Additionally, I cook healthy dishes for a couple families on a weekly basis, and occasionally I will also cater small private events. I’ve catered some corporate breakfasts, birthdays and family reunions.
I think what sets me apart Is that I cater to allergy friendly and take a Whole Foods approach. I myself cannot tolerate gluten or dairy and my recipes that I share are all essentially free of both of these. I also like to mix it up and include some vegan recipes, sometimes paleo friendly recipes, but most importantly I like to keep them delicious and on the healthier side. Food is both our greatest please and our greatest medicine. I don’t promote “diets,” but I promote balance.
I take all of my own photos, and this aspect of my business is something that I’m very proud of. What excites me the most is that I’ve made been able to make my passion my business. I always stay true to what I believe in and the companies that I work with are only companies that I do believe produce quality ingredients and products.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Oh what a loaded question! I have had so many cheerleaders in my life! I’m so blessed. My siblings, parents and close friends have ALL supported me throughout my healing as well as my decision to pursue my passion as a business. My therapist and my dietitian have helped me to be able to grow my business while continuing to repair my relationship with food. My sister-in-law has helped me to develop my website and continues to guide me through the creative process daily with my photography. Big credit goes to Chris Sanchez and his crew at the Boston Photography Workshops in Boston. Without the food photography courses I took with him, my photos wouldn’t be where they are today. Additionally, I have met so many wonderful people and other bloggers through Instagram who have supported me continuously, and I learn from them every day. Lastly, I lost my dad five years ago, but his support is never ending.
