Meet Evelyn St.Germain of Bee Charmed Gift Shop & Country Store in Bridgewater

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evelyn St.Germain.

Evelyn, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It started as a small corner shop at my husband’s office Mike St.Germain & Sons and it grew from there. We have been open for almost 2yrs. We have a lot of local artisans who sell their products in the shop. I have our own candle line, Bee Charmed Candles. They are 100% soy wax with cotton wicks. We have over 92 fragrances to choose from. We also have our own bath & body line, TeaTone Bath & Body, which consists of soaps, bath scrubs, lotion bars, body butter, body spray, & hair & beard oils, we also have 16 different fragrances of bath bombs. We also have handmade home décor items, wreaths, engraved town glasses, town signs, beeswax products, and so much more. We have local honey, Vermont Maple Syrup, and jams, jelly and fudge. This is just a small amount of what we have to offer.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a new business is always a challenge. I have had amazing support from my husband, family and friends. Each year business gets better and better. I can’t ask for much more than that. My customers have also been very supportive and loyal. It has been quite a ride. I have defiantly have had some challenges along the way, It is not easy starting a new business and working a full time job teaching teens to drive. My children have been an amazing help covering the shop when I cannot be here.

Bee Charmed Gift Shop & Country Store – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I make my own candles. It started off as 30 fragrances and we are now up to over 92. They are one of our most popular items. We also have a frequent candle card. When you buy your 10th candle you get a free candle. My daughter also has her own Bath & Body line, TeaTones, which are another popular items we have in the shop. What sets us apart from other shops is we have a wide variety of beautiful handmade items made by local artisans who live in the area, it is very important to support each other. We have hand painted signs, engraved glasses, hand sewn table runners, dog treats, scarfs, hats & headbands and so much more.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment would be the amazing support I have gotten from my family, friends, and the community I live in. I never thought my candles would be as popular as they are. It started off as I wanted candles to sell in the shop. I looked into other candle companies and decided to make them myself. I love the fact they are 100% soy wax with eco cotton wicks. Soy burns nicer the paraffin waxes and they are better for the environment. We are all about the environment. We came up with the name Bee Charmed because we love bees. My daughter is about saving the bees so it was a perfect fit for our name.
