Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Prondecki.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Steve. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up, my mom, who is a stylist, had her salon in our house. As a result, some of the tools of the barber trade; clippers, combs, scissors and such, were commonplace. Intrigued by a fresh (and not to mention free) cut, my older brothers, cousins and friends were always willing guinea pigs! I thoroughly enjoyed it! But it wasn’t until my 26th birthday and a move to Florida with Kate (whom is now my lovely wife) when I decided to pursue barbering. I attended Florida barber academy in Pompano Beach, Florida. Met some really cool, influential people and ran with it. I loved school. The people, the many different aspects of barber practicing, from its history to its correct sanitation practices. I graduated top of my class with a Master Barber license and began work at a great shop in Coral Springs, FL. I sat next to two unbelievable barbers and tried to absorb everything they did and said. I’ve been incredibly lucky to have worked for and with so many different shops and owners. I learned so much from each and every one of them. I initially established prondos barber shop out of the front side of a residential home with my shop in the front. I started building up clientele to the point where I made my first move to a small commercial storefront on bank row right in the center of town. I quickly outgrew the smaller storefront and made a move to a much bigger location where I’ve got 5 chairs in an awesome inviting atmosphere.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been an incredible journey to where I am today. Looking back I had very few obstacles and was very fortunate to have so many great clients and employees along the way.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Prondo’s Barber Shop story. Tell us more about the business.
Prondo’s Barber Shop opened in the spring of 2015. The shop caters to men and women alike, always keeping up to date on the newest trends/styles. We specialize in precise fading and finely detailed haircuts. Our customers receive an exceptionally high quality haircut and shave, which we take great pride in. I think I’m most proud of the growth we’ve made in becoming the shop we are today. Some things that set us apart from other shops is the overall atmosphere, the brand, and our ability to execute the perfect cut.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’ve been extremely lucky and blessed to have met and learned from so many talented barbers along the way. Every barber has their own unique niche. And I try to take a little from everyone and apply it in my own way.
