Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Chy.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Lisa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was in college when I did my first wedding. I was 19 at the time and it was really just for fun. The business grew from that day on. That very first client led to other clients that referred me to all their friends and family. I am also lucky enough to have incredible family and friends that advertised my services. I wouldn’t be where I am now without my amazing family, friends, and supportive clients.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Having a business of any type is a challenge, especially a small business. When you have a small business and you are the only employee, you are responsible for everything – sales, marketing, finance, traveling, booking, etc. It’s a lot of work but because I love what I do, it really doesn’t feel like a job.
My advice to young women is to work hard and don’t give up. Hard work always pays off and overcoming challenges only make you better at what you do.
what should we know about Lisa Chy Makeup? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a makeup artist based in Boston, MA. I specialize in airbrush bridal makeup but have experience in editorial, commercial, and runway makeup.
I am extremely proud and lucky to have an incredible team of makeup artists that have an equally strong passion for makeup.
Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
I have an aunt in Virginia that worked for Elizabeth Arden years ago. She is beautiful. She always had a full face of makeup on and had a strong passion for the cosmetics industry. Every year, she would send my mom a huge box of Elizabeth Arden cosmetics. I was really young at the time but my mom would let me pick a few pieces out of the box every year. I knew then, that I wanted to do something in the beauty industry.
