Today we’d like to introduce you to Candace Bouffard.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Candace. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As a cape cod native, I always wanted a clothing brand, went to MassArt in Boston to study graphic & fashion design. Created the brand Beach Bum Surf Co. combining my love for surfing and the beach with fashion, love of cape cod.
For a few years of building the brand, I sold to local shops, did pop up shops and shows in Boston and surrounding areas. Then in March of 2017, I opened the first Beach Bum Surf Co. flagship store on Main Street in Chatham MA.
The support and response from customers have been incredible. I am very excited to announce that I will be releasing a children’s book this summer I have been writing and working on for a couple years. It will be found in the shop this summer.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I had to have emergency brain surgery in 2011. At cape cod hospital. That put it on hold for a while until I recovered. I’m great now and very thankful. But it taught me to really go after what you want and your dreams.
Please tell us about Beach Bum Surf.
We are a specialty brand of surf/ beach apparel for men and women. We pride ourselves on the exclusivity of our items, and our designs. I design all the shirts we do. With love for local and cape cod. We are also most known for our swimwear!
We carry tons of high end and tropical brands of swimwear you can’t find. I specialize in fitting swimwear and work with my customers to find that perfect fit! To make you feel like a bombshell.
We at known for having trendy good quality merchandise that you can’t find anywhere else on the cape! Some of the brands we carry are from Australia, Hawaii, Florida, and many more places. I always get a great response from customers about the brand and shop.
I have my shop very bright and tropical, Reggie, playing a nice shopping experience. I also pride myself on our customer service, we work very hard to work with our customers and give them a one on one personalized shopping experience. Our most popular and well-known Shirts are, our original Beach Bum Van, Cape Cod Girls Do It Better and our Locals Only Tee,
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Traveling with my mom, she is my best friend. It gave me a love of adventure, shopping, and the ocean style. I knew I wanted to do something that I could travel and share the island life with everyone.
