Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Russell.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Lisa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my career as a hairdresser and what I noticed early on was that I was able to make people feel good about how they felt and how they looked, which was great, but that honestly only lasted a few days for some clients. I remember thinking to myself, “what if I could make people feel good no matter what… even if they were having a bad hair day? How could I tap into their energy to release all of the beliefs and judgments people have about themselves?”
I was living in Florida at the time and I found a Holistic Center that taught a variety of different and kind of “out-there” classes. Classes you would have never thought even existed! My curriculum started with Past Life Regressions which essentially taught about the carry-over of our beliefs and fears from other lifetimes. After that, I studied Reiki and ended up becoming a Reiki Master.
These classes were great, but something was definitely still missing. Meanwhile, my husband received a job offer in Massachusetts (where we were both from), so we ended up moving back. He was on a similar spiritual quest and came across an article in the North Shore paper about a school in Ipswich that taught Polarity Therapy and it happened to be pretty close to the town we were moving to!
For those unfamiliar, Polarity Therapy is the art and science of stimulating and balancing the flow of life energy within the human being. Was this the knowledge I was yearning for? A month after we moved back, my husband unexpectedly crossed over and my world was turned upside down. We had two children, my daughter was 9 and my son was 13 at the time and I truly did not know how I was going to get through it.
Although he was not physically with us, my husband and I had spent plenty of time meditating together and we didn’t believe in death. I could feel his presence everywhere and he was communicating with me all the time. He would leave the Polarity Therapy article out for me to see all over the house. I would put it away in a drawer and a day later it would be out on the kitchen counter.
No matter where I put the article, it would always show up, so I finally called the school and made an appointment. Unfortunately, most people don’t know how to deal with death or what to say with someone’s passing that it ends up becoming somewhat of a “pity party” full of such terrible energy. I needed to get away from friends and family and find a place where no one knew me or my “story.”
I started class 8 weeks after his crossing over and it truly was one of the best decisions I have ever made in life. The teachings of Polarity Therapy encompassed everything I had wanted to know. I had found the missing piece of this puzzle we call life.
I sought out other forms of bodywork and went on to get my massage license to learn more about the muscles, organs, tissues, and the rest of the physical aspects of the body. After 22 years of practicing, I still thank my husband every day for putting that article in front of me.
Has it been a smooth road?
The biggest challenge I faced when I first started out was that there was a complete unawareness for energy work. People thought I was crazy and that I was practicing voodoo. People’s perception of massage was that of an old dirty massage parlor and it always seemed to have a sexual stigma attached to it.
I was blessed by the 5 loyal clients I had that helped to build my business by telling everyone I was a “magician” and to “just go see her”. Energy work and its results are pretty difficult to explain, you truly have to experience it to understand it. To this day, my business continues to build off of my wonderful clients that spread the word about my practice!

Live More Realized’s mission is to awaken people to live consciously, empowered, and fully realized. I do energy work to bring people to a state of empowerment and to bring them into alignment with their best self. I teach people how to start perceiving themselves as an energetic being that is having a human experience. I teach them how to raise their vibrations to attract exactly what they want in life and not what they think they are limited to.
I am known as a no bullshit therapist. We have the power to do anything we believe we can and I am able to help my clients with those beliefs that are holding them back. I am most proud of how far I have come over the years and for those clients that have been with me from the beginning! To watch someone’s life completely change after only a few sessions with me, that is what gets me out of bed in the morning.
What sets me apart is that I have been doing this full-time for 22 years, I have worked on thousands of people and have taught hundreds of classes. I am obsessed with learning, have taken hundreds of classes and continue to stay up to date with other modalities. Every year I take at least 3 new classes as I am still seeking, and I want to continue to be on the leading edge. I also like to think I have a pretty great sense of humor. Some of this stuff gets a bit “out-there” for some so I try to make my clients feel as comfortable as possible!
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love Boston and it has such great energy. It’s beautiful, so rich in history and there is so much to see and do. The city is full of great museums, art galleries, restaurants, and those Swan Boats are so fun!
