Meet Candace Unis of Candace Unis – Heart Centered Healing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Candace Unis.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Nearly ten years ago, I was exploring my own spirituality and taking classes, seminars, workshops, researching and reading. I have always had an interest, since a very young age, with all things beyond my five physical senses. As a child, I had ethereal like visitors who I was frightened of due to not understanding who or what they were and so I blocked any connections I might have made at that time. As I continued reflecting on my life I realized how much loss had influenced how I chose to deal with emotions and the people around me.

From the age of 16 I experienced several losses that were very significant. A grandmother who raised me died in 68 and then ten years later the grandfather who raised me was lost at sea in September of 78 and my birth mother died in December of the same year. A best friend died 8 yrs later at 32 yrs old as well as other friends and close relatives. I also went through a messy divorce. My only brother, whom I adored, died when I was in my mid 40’s and was really the catalyst for me to again deepen my spiritual quest.

I became a Reiki Master and used energy work to assist my own grief process and studied mediumship to learn to make those connections I had pushed away in childhood. I was finding that as I opened up more spiritually that often people were drawn to me for counsel and guidance as well as Reiki and/or mediumship sessions. Observing how healing mediumship sessions can be with the grief process I felt called to explore a deeper way to assist people who are grieving and mourning and so I decided to pursue a certification in grief support in 2014.

Has it been a smooth road?
I found that in the beginning, I needed to address my own residual feelings of loss to best be of service to those I hold space with and for. Loss and grief are a natural part of life though not often talked about an opening. Educating people on the necessity of embracing grief and loss as an important learning experience has been a bit of a struggle, yet when people are in the throes of it they are receptive and often go forward to enlighten and teach others.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Candace Unis – Heart Centered Healing – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am very proud and honored to sit with those who are at a pivotal emotional time in their lives. The death of a loved one or a loss of health or career can be devastating and totally knock us off balance and then some. I am a certified grief support specialist and Reiki Master as well as an intuitive counselor and medium. All of these skills enable me to offer clients a personalized healing experience that assists them in moving forward in their lives.

The time I spend with a client is non-therapeutic in terms of the clinical aspect of traditional therapy but focuses more on the loss and grief present and honoring that passage. I assist the griever with finding ways to process their emotions and come to an understanding that grief is unique to them as well as normal and natural. I consider myself a grief companion; walking that road beside them in support, understanding, and compassion.Incorporating the spiritual aspects of healing through intuitive counsel and energy work gives the griever another tool to navigate their emotional road of loss.

Currently, I am pursuing a certification in Holistic Life Coaching to further enhance services I can offer to clients as they move toward new goals in their life while addressing the mind, body, and spirit in balance.
