Today we’d like to introduce you to Bonnie Yu.
Bonnie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a 26 years old self-taught florist with a big heart for flowers. I took over a small existing shop a year ago and transferred it to a sweet little flower shop with a character in the Bay Village area of Boston.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It is not an easy journey to build and run a business, as there’s no one single manual out there to tell you what’s the right thing to do. But, I take this as an opportunity to strengthen my personal growth by doing what I am passionate about. As a young entrepreneur, the lacked experiences was my biggest challenge. The biggest advice I have for anyone is strong-willed, follow your heart and dream big!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Bella Florist – what should we know?
We are a full-service florist based in the Bay Village Area of Boston. We offer a large variety of fresh cut flowers and we take custom orders for weddings, parties, corporate events and any special occasions. We are a small sister owned and operated flower shop. We gave all our flower arrangements a hint of elegance and a touch of love.
So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
I believe all women are as capable as men, as long as we have the right mindset for it, we will be well positioned to do anything.
