Today we’d like to introduce you to Cat Lane.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Cat. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my journey in military and after 13 years of active duty my husband and I wanted to start a family. Having two active duty parents is very difficult, so I got off active duty and went into reserves. During the first couple years of my daughter’s life I fell in love with taking her photographs. I had traveled around the world and taken many photographs but I knew they could always be better. So I enrolled at the Art Institute in Boston to learn photography. I obtained my certificate in photography and have been running my photography business ever since. I really enjoy working with families, seeing the connection and capturing it.
Has it been a smooth road?
There is always fear to tread into the unknown. Especially, in the art world you’ll never know if you’ll be accepted. I have been lucky to have a supportive husband and a cooperative daughter to practice new styles and techniques. Time is my biggest struggle, you can’t do it all well.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Cat Lane Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
My business is Cat Lane Photography. I specialize is custom photography. I am most proud of putting personalized touches on my work and paying attention to the details.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Photography is partially technology driven. I am excited to see what the future brings. I know they say everyone is a photographer these days – I said the same thing until I went through school, but quality consistent images really takes a pro.
