Meet Sally Goldfarb of B-Buckled in Needham

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sally Goldfarb.

Sally, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was a severe special ed teacher for 35 years!!! Oops a give away to my age!!! My sister started a business in New Jersey selling jewelry and belt buckles that she imported from overseas. I kept looking at the buckles always thinking I can make this any better.

Well, I did!!! And they sold!!! I was always crafty but never in my wildest dreams did I ever think someone would pay for something I made. So B-Buckled was started and has evolved into a dream come true. I took early retirement from the job I truly loved and focused on my new venture.

I have expanded and sell everything from jewelry, belts, accessories and now my new passions!! Knitted cacti and embellishing flannels, jackets, and jeans. I feel I have crafter’s ADD but love everything I do and the opportunity to constantly create and sell.

I also keep in mind an amazing price point so everyone can have a little treat and feel good about themselves. I am all about women helping and supporting other women.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am beyond fortunate to say it has been smooth sailings all the way. I am grateful for the unique situation I am in.

B-Buckled – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am beyond proud that I have “pulled this off.” I was known as the “belt lady” because that is what I started with but now I have known as the “one” with the funky, fun and trendy things and so affordable. I also pride myself on only stocking one or two of an item so everything is always new and different.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?

Do you feel like our city is a good place for businesses like yours? If someone was just starting out, would you recommend them starting out here? If not, what can our city do to improve?

Without a doubt, we are in a great city for new business. Because I work out of my home and go all over to trunk and vendor shows I can say there is a market for businesses like B-Buckled. I feel very strongly that you need to sell unique items and keep the right price point.
