Today we’d like to introduce you to Bill Goldfarb, Melissa Goldfarb.
Bill “Lefty” earned his nickname during his time as a commercial roofer. He wasn’t the only Bill on the roof, so the two guys were nicknamed by their dominant hands. Even though Lefty is no longer on roofs, his nickname lives on!
Melissa, Bill’s partner in life as well as business, is conveniently also a Lefty. Melissa’s focus is on all of the marketing and sales. Together they make a great team, bringing strengths to every aspect of the brewery.
After many years of practice as a home brewer, Bill’s passion grew into a profession. With determination, creativity, and a lot of fun along the way, Bill and Melissa opened the doors to Lefty’s Brewing Company in 2010 and have never looked back!
Over the past several years Lefty’s has grown from two people who sold six types of beer, into a small dedicated team that has brewed almost 50 beer flavors.
Each team member brings a different set of strengths and skills to the company, along with the excitement and passion for craft beer. They hope you get a chance to come visit their brewery, which they call a second home.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The craft brewing industry boomed shortly after we opened, over saturating the industry and making shelf space and tap lines less available. By maintaining great customer service and staying involved in our local community, we’ve been lucky enough to continue to flourish and grow, & now distributed across the entire state of MA.
We also self-distributed for the first 7 years we were open but found after so much growth, we needed to make a decision to either keep self-distributing or to pass it over to a larger distributor with more resources such as salesmen and trucking. This allowed us to continue to grow at our own pace successfully.

Currently operating on a 15 barrel steam powered brewhouse in Greenfield, MA, Lefty’s Brewing Company aims to produce about 3000+ barrels this year. At this time we have ten year-round, eleven seasonals, and a wide selection of limited releases & barrel aged brews.
We donate all our spent grain and hops to local farms to reduce our waste and provide the farm animals with wholesome food. We have also joined with other local businesses to create new and exciting products. We strongly believe in being involved in our community and participate in local events which support important community organizations.
At Lefty’s, we use only quality ingredients and take pride in our attention to detail. It is important to us to provide you with a fresh, locally made brew, showcasing our passion in every pint.
