Meet Charlotte Holberry of Eventive in Worcester

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charlotte Holberry.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Charlotte. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up, I always loved entertaining. Even at the ripe age of 10, I was throwing surprise birthday parties for friends and planning fundraisers for local nonprofits. I thrived on the conceptualization and little details that customized each event… and most of all, I loved to impress. As with many entrepreneurs, in my mind, my hobby was just that- a hobby- and for years I never once thought of turning it into a career. However, I could never escape the event mindset.

In high school, I planned events. In college, I planned events. And, when I got my first job at a marketing firm in downtown Worcester, my mind continued to focus on events… but suddenly, with my new career, I was thinking of events on a different level. Events were no longer just a fun way to entertain, but also a brilliant marketing technique. I realized how beneficial experiences could be for businesses of all types. Not only could events provide great press material before, during, and after they were held, but events allowed the company’s targeted audience the ability to interact with their service or product first-hand.

After my “aha!” moment, I began seeking out businesses in Central Massachusetts who provided this service and quickly realized there was a lack of experiential marketing firms in the area. And so, Eventive was born. Eventive, which began primarily as an experiential marketing company, now offers a variety of services, including style and design, wedding planning, and outsourced function coordination. My passion has only grown stronger and, of course, I still love to impress!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I don’t know any business owner who has experienced a “smooth road” and I am no exception. Entrepreneurship is certainly not for the faint-hearted and comes with its fair share of challenges. Uncertainty is a big one many face: uncertainty of the company’s success, uncertainty of where the next client will come from, uncertainty of the company’s future financial situation, uncertainty of when the next competitor will emerge and how to handle it, and so-on-and-so-forth. Every day I’m faced with new challenges, but they are crucial to helping me learn and develop and have only made me a stronger person and business owner.

Please tell us about Eventive.
Eventive is a creative event agency that offers beautiful, unique, and organized experiences throughout New England. We work with all types of clientele to provide event planning for businesses, wedding planning for couples, and style and design for events, interior design, and product shoots.

Due to my background in marketing and PR, I love to develop ideas to help businesses stand out! Whether it’s an event or a big publicity stunt, I am driven by causing a stir in the community… in the best way possible. We help our clients with everything from the conceptualization to the day-of coordination, and everything in-between.

We’re also excited to announce our newest service that just launched in January: outsourced function coordination! Working with many businesses in the hospitality industry, we were shocked at the lack of organized in-house events management. In fact, most locations didn’t have someone on staff responsible for handling their in-house parties. So, we decided to fill the gap. Businesses who aren’t quite ready to hire an in-house coordinator can have us manage their inquiries, bookings, and even help with the promotion of their event space.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I don’t think I’d do anything differently. Every action I’ve taken and every decision I’ve made has led me to where I am today.
