Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Mince.
Christine, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Fitness wasn’t always a passion for me, sure I’ve been active my whole life, but I always struggled with my body image. I would work out for hours a day and eat as little as possible, never happy with what I saw in the mirror. But then one day, it was like something flipped in my mind and instead of constantly fighting against what I looked like, I worked with it and discovered my love of running and lifting and just being strong. Around me, I watched other people struggle with the same things I used to and I decided to become a personal trainer. So that I could help others through the journey that I did, learning to love their bodies for what it can do rather than what it looks like.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing is ever a smooth road right? I’ve had my ups and downs finding my place in this industry because it’s constantly growing and changing. If you are just getting into fitness for yourself or you want to become a trainer or instructor, you first have to learn about what you love because if you’re trying to just fit into a certain mold it will show. Your passion won’t shine through if it’s not something you absolutely love and you’re just going to make the journey harder.
what should we know about CJoy Fitness? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a personal trainer but I like to set myself apart from others because I don’t like to just focus on the physical aspect of fitness. There is a mind body connection that people tend to ignore or not consider when it comes to fitness and working out. I want people to feel good about their bodies at all steps of their journey, not just when they meet their goals. So when I work with a client, I don’t just focus on the scale or a race, but the motivation and influence I can bring to the table in order to achieve those goals.
Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
The most important piece of advice I can give, is do not settle. Do not just go for the bigger pay check. I can assure you that you won’t be happy.
