Today we’d like to introduce you to Michela Raymond.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Michela. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was always an athlete growing up. I played every sport but my true passion was Cheerleading. I cheered Allstars which basically is a more extreme level of competition as opposed to high school or pop warner cheering. Kind of like the gym and bodybuilding. I always like the extreme of things. Once my cheerleading days were over, I need that level of competition again and that’s when I found bodybuilding. I started working out a home with just a few dumbbells and a medicine ball. I work run in place for an hour and do jumping jacks for cardio! After about 3 months, I decided to join a gym, that’s when I really fell in love fitness and bodybuilding. Fast forward 4 years, I’ve competed in over 10 amateur bodybuilding shows and 2 national shows, winning my 2nd national show earning my IFBB PROFESSIONAL status. The IFBB is the highest, most recognizable fitness organization in the world. I have competed in 1 pro show back in November of 2017, it was the Lou Ferrigno Legacy in Palm Spring California. In just 2 weeks, I will be competing in my 2nd pro show in Indianapolis, Indy Pro 2018. I’m so blessed to be were I am today but I’m extremely proud of myself as well. The dedication, strength and will-power that goes into this sport is on a level only a small percentage of this world can endure. It’s my life and I wouldn’t change a thing!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
In this sport, there is never a smooth road. There will always be a set back or a struggle. Most of the struggles are mainly mental. Not every day is good. Some days you may be extremely tired and not want to get up and do your cardio, but you have to! Or, even the food you take in the day before may cause your weight to fluctuate and play games with your head BUT like I tell my clients, if you are doing exactly what you are supposed to be doing then it will all come together in the end. HEAD DOWN AND STAY FOCUSED!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Pro Body Fitness and Posing story. Tell us more about the business.
My business is called PRO BODY FITNESS AND POSING. I coach competitors for shows as well as your average person wanting to better their lifestyle by learning proper training and nutrition. What I am more known for is the posing part of my business. When competing you have a routine to do on stage to present you physique. We wear 5 inches heels and strut ourselves to the judges! We have mandatory poses that you must hit while on stage. As a competitor, you could have the most amazing physique on that stage BUT if you can’t present it the right way, then all that hard work you’ve put in during your competition prep goes to waste. That’s where I come in! Presentation is everything. It’s my passion to help girls be able to present themselves with confidence and remind them to enjoy this process and to have fun! FUN is the most important!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t like to say luck or bad luck took a role in anything. You can be successful by dedicating yourself and never giving up. Nothing is every easy, they’ll always be an obstacle but its only there to make you stronger. Dedication and determination is the key to anything and everything!
