Today we’d like to introduce you to Lane Ehart.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It all started in 2010 when I took two photography courses in high school. At that time, I had a hot pink Nikon Coolpix. I then got my hands on my brother’s Nikon D3100 that he had purchased for traveling and he never got it back. I rarely left the house without my camera. At that age, I didn’t even think of pursuing a career in photography. It was more of a hobby then.
I was accepted early decision to my first-choice college in 2012. I was so excited to move to Florida for the best four years of my life. By the time Junior year rolled around, I started to lose interest in my intended major of Psychology. I decided to come back home to Massachusetts where I spent two years working and photographing the beauty of Cape Cod. I figured out what I wanted to do for the rest of my life and the answer came easy.
Photography — I wanted to become a professional photographer. I applied to the New England School of Photography in 2016 and haven’t looked back once. I am graduating this coming June and am ecstatic for what’s to come. I am so grateful for all of the wonderful creatives I have met along the way.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a rather smooth road. Of course, there will be some bumps along the way but it’s all about learning and being open to new ideas.
Tilly Brant Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Tilly Brant Photography specializes in wedding, portrait and interior design photography. Tilly Brant is the name of my dog. Tilly is a fun, unique name that fits her personality and Brant comes from Brant Point Lighthouse on Nantucket.
I feel so much joy when I am able to capture love stories for couples to look back on. I also enjoy interior design. It intrigues me to see how people view spaces differently and I love photographing the final product of one’s imagination.
When I am behind the camera, life slows down a little bit. For me, photography is an escape from reality. I strive to capture the timeless, intimate in-between moments shared between a couple, family and friends. I’m all about the real, candid moments. I’m known for having bright, natural and clean images. I promise to always document moments with so much love and attention.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I struggle most with my reserved personality but doing what I love most has brought me out of my shell. I am prouder of myself than any specific moment so far in my career.
