Today we’d like to introduce you to Maureen Romboldi.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
People say there is a mystery behind me. I definitely have to agree. Certainly, in my heart, soul and spirit but also so much more.
All great photographers are creative and see the world slightly different than the rest of us but I am completely unique. I am eccentric, funny, silly, serious, commanding and quiet.
I am all things creative and fun but mostly, a talented photographer who captures a cherished moment in a unique and treasured way.
All my life, I have been capturing unique moments, in a memorable way but has been doing so professionally for many years. My strong family bonds with my sons give me empathy that shines through in all my work.
I view my subjects as energetic sources of potential works of art. By viewing each assignment in that positive manner, I create truly amazing art with my camera. I have won many awards and is recognized for my work by my peers.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I was in the high end fashion with my dream job. Until the market took a real turn. Then the company ended up liquidating. It was like mourning a death. Thank goodness, I had my camera, I grabbed a hold of that, I knew this was something so different. A different lifestyle. With a special friend, we just did nonstop shooting.
Then, I became very ill. I contracted encephalitis on the brain. Through this all, I still do my photography. I might had down time at one point with long hospitalization. Surgery so painful, thought my head was going to explode.
I made it. Then that winter, I fell on ice trying to protect head I shattered my left hand. Two years, two surgeries on my thumb was finally pinned together. The whole time never stopped shooting. Stubborn Aries.
So, if you want it, you can do it.
“Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire”, a quote that any business especially as an entrepreneur has to consider including its challenges.
What has been your fondest childhood memory?
First thing that comes to my mind was Sunday nights! As a little girl, my Dad loved his video camera. He was always working but every chance he got, he had us on film.
There’s only one thing, Dad was not a cook… but, oh those Sunday nights, I would watch him with amazement with rolling out dough, just oh so perfect! He cut each piece into bite sizes, toss them into a black wrought iron frying pan, cooked to perfection then, there would be fresh chunks of Parmesan cheese, butter, salami, mozzarella. Mom and five of us would all be eating the best.
The best is yet to come as we watched Dad set up those reels of film and watched those black and whites on a big screen he had set up.
