Meet Lindsay Shores of Paris, Meet Boston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Shores.

Lindsay, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Paris, Meet Boston, it’s the fashion and lifestyle site that I started in 2016. It began as a way for me to highlight my passion for the French way of living and how I choose to infuse that lifestyle into my life in Boston. The goal of the site is to inspire others to lead a culture-filled life, wherever they may find themselves in the world.

I lived in Paris for a time and as Hemingway said, “…wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast.” Everything about Parisian culture, from the sophisticated way of dressing and carrying oneself, to the great appreciation for art and literature, to the importance placed upon fresh, local foods and cuisine as an art form, captivated me. And, I wanted a way to share that love with others.

I am also a writer working on my first fiction novel and blogging on Paris, Meet Boston enables me to write and communicate with others in advance of the publication of my book.

Along the way, as I searched for places and cultural events to highlight on my blog, I have met some incredible people. I have become better acquainted with wonderful restaurants, such as La Voile on Newbury Street, discovered new brands that I love, such as Belle Force and seen museums such as the Museum of Fine Arts with a whole new perspective. I have also become much more closely involved with The French Cultural Center in Back Bay, where I originally started learning French at the age of six. It’s been amazing for me to come full circle and support cultural institutions that mean so much to me, and have given me so much, through Paris, Meet Boston.

Has it been a smooth road?
Moving from the conception of the site, to its launch, to creating continuous content has not always been easy. Let’s just say that, I watched a lot of YouTube during the time that I was teaching myself how to use HTML and optimize my site’s SEO.

When I started Paris, Meet Boston, I was a full-time French teacher and I often, had to work late at night on my grading and lesson-planning, followed by work on my blog.

I have since transitioned to working full-time in marketing, so I am always working to multitask efficiently and to make sure that I maintain a proper work-life balance.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Paris, Meet Boston is a fashion and lifestyle site that serves to inspire others to infuse more culture into their lives and live ‘la vie à la parisienne’ here in the US or wherever they may find themselves.

I am most proud of the fact that Paris, Meet Boston is an intellectually and aesthetically rich source of inspiration that especially highlights restaurants, beautiful brands, fascinating museums and cultural events. While it’s true that I am telling my own story through this blog, the site is about so much more than me. It’s about inspiring a lifestyle that truly embraces the richness of life, including art, fashion, travel, cuisine and even home decor.

What sets Paris, Meet Boston apart from other sites is, its French focus and the way that it approaches things like fashion on a deeper, more cultural level.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think Boston is a wonderful city in which to start a blog! It is such a historically, intellectually and culturally rich city with so much to inspire. I also feel that there is room here for bloggers and writers to share their voices here. I have met so many local bloggers through a group called Style Collective and one tends to find that the world of blogging in Boston is a rather small one.
