I’ve always had a love for preserving memories through photographs. It wasn’t until after my wedding that my business came about. My husband bought me a camera and my passion grew from preserving memories for our own family to sharing that with women and families everywhere. I’m a Wedding + Boudoir photographer with a focus on empowering women through their entire lives. I want to be there with them as they embrace their inner beauty and as they become a bride. I’ve had the best clients and become good friends with them which allows me to walk through life with them as they have babies and start careers. It’s truly a blessing to be able to do what I do. Kim Lyn Photography started in 2012 as a hobby and it has taken me to places I never thought possible. I think it’s so important to tell your story and keep those memories to share with future generations to come.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My business has steadily grown throughout my five years in business but to be honest it hasn’t always been easy. I struggled a bit with how fast my business grew and having things in place to keep me organized. I also struggled with time management because when I’m not photographing I also have a family to take care of. We have grown so much in such a short amount of time, as a one woman show it was hard to keep up. Since my business started I’ve added on my husband as my business partner and my sister as a second photographer. I love photography but that’s only about 25% of what I do.

Kim Lyn Photography is a photography company based in Rhode Island that specializes in photographing weddings + boudoir. My photography style is light, airy, and most importantly it’s natural. It’s the best version of you. I have just started rebranding my business to focus on women. I’d love to photograph them throughout all stages of their lives. I have such a passion for encouraging and inspiring women to live their best lives. I’m able to do through photography. It’s truly my heart to see my clients get married, feel confident for their boudoir sessions, and then start their families. I want to be there when they start their own businesses. I’m so proud of my clients. I’m proud of the women they are. I’m blessed to call these women my friends, to cheer them on throughout their lives. I think what sets me apart is just me. I may not be everyone’s photographer but the women that come to me become a part of my life. They become a part of my story. I truly love them dearly and want nothing more than to see them succeed. I realized photography isn’t about me. It’s about them.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I just want to inspire as many women as I possibly can. I want to cheer them on and see them flourish in whatever sets their hearts on fire. I just had a studio built for my boudoir clients and I can’t wait to start offering Boudoir parties for girl’s days, bachelorette parties, bridal showers, and birthdays. I’d like to start hosting women’s conferences as well. I truly believe in community over competition and want my own little girl tribe of women encouraging each other.
