Meet Stephen Powers of S&L Subs in North of Boston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephen Powers.

Stephen, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
S&L was opened in Chelsea in 1973. We are known to sell the largest subs anywhere. We have built a loyal customer base by using quality meats and cheeses, as well as fresh bread and vegetables. But above all that we pride ourselves on our customer service.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course there have been “hard times”… Over the span of 40+ years we have seen the economy time and fall, but we have stayed true to our blue-collar customers keeping the prices low and the quality high.

S&L Subs – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
S&L Subs is known for our monstrous subs. At roughly 17″ long most families cut them in half or even thirds. Most well-known being the Italian cold cut or steak & cheese. With over 50 different sandwiches, there is a sub for everyone.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Being accepted by this wonderful community for the last 45 years has been an amazing experience. Generations of people have passed through.
