Meet Jessica Sweet of Wishingwell Coaching in Natick

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Sweet.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jessica. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Before having my first daughter I was a social worker at the Cambridge Hospital. I loved that work, but once I had my daughter I quickly realized that it didn’t make sense to go back and fork over my entire paycheck to childcare.

I knew I needed to do something more than stay home though, and I did some soul searching to figure out how to best use my talents and my skills, do what I was interested in and still get paid. That’s when I decided to open my career coaching business, Wishing well Coaching.

Growing up, my dad really hated his job, and that experience shaped me. I am really committed to helping people figure out their next career steps and find work that’s right for them.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it was hard in the beginning, especially with two little kids. In the beginning I would get up at 5 a.m. to write a blog post because there wasn’t other quiet time to do it. It was difficult balancing two worlds -starting a small business and having very little kids, both extremely demanding in very different ways.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Wishing Well Coaching – what should we know?
I specialize in helping midlife professionals find their next career steps. Many people at midlife are looking for something more creative and fulfilling. They are feeling bored and under-utilized and they know they could be doing something with more purpose. Yet they don’t know what that is, how to find it, or the practical steps to make the leap into doing it. That’s what I help with. My clinical background helps me to help people with the mindset aspects of the transition like confidence.

I’m proud of my successes with clients and the publications I’ve been able to contribute to including Business Insider, CNBC, Forbes, Huffington Post and Fast Company.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think the thing that helps me the most in terms of being successful it my relentless pursuit in helping my clients. I really believe in the mission of helping people find better work situations, and I want to bring that to people in any way I can.
