Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Wolz, Chris Wolz and Travis Tenney.
It all started in the woods about 2 years ago. Matt was venturing through the thicket with his dog Casey when he heard in the distance a deep, rumbling rhythm. He was drawn to it, like a moth to a flame or maybe even like a rabbit to a hole. As he moved closer, the rhythm turned to a beat which made his feet tap and head bob like a chicken. He stumbled into the lowly light barn and stated, “We shall start a band! A band that plays the music of rock! There has been no stopping them since.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The day after we played 100.7 WZLX’s Rock N’ Roll Rumble, we received a cease and desist letter from a lawyer representing a band with our original name in NYC. They weren’t fond of us because we are obviously better than them in all aspects of life, music and love making. After months of fighting and tens of thousands of dollars spent on entertainment lawyers, we had no other option but to change our name. In honor of Matt and Chris’ late mother who grew up speaking Spanish, we decided to keep our name but translate to the Spanish equivalent Thus was born “Graneros”.

We are a rock band that specializes in playing loud. We’re really good at making sound guys tell us to turn down. We also like to make most of our own CD’s, T-Shirts and Artwork.
What were you like growing up?
Chris was dyslexic. Matt would tell his friends that his new toys were painted so they couldn’t touch them. Travis at spaghettios out of the cold can.
