Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamela Flint Dube.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Pamela. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
At the age of seventeen I started as a receptionist at Paul Thomas and Co. The Paul Mitchell distributor started in the basement of the building, so I often worked for both companies. I sent myself to cosmetology school and started my career at the age of eighteen. I became an educator and sales representative for hairlines representing John Paul Mitchell Systems. I worked all 3 jobs from 19-29 and was able to buy my own home at 23.
I am passionate about the professional beauty industry and I believe in all education is what has set me apart from others in my industry. I have attend and conducted advanced education and have worked closely with Icons in my industry. My first hair show was with Paul Mitchell and Jeannie Braa in Boston Ma. I spent 3 years working at a salon on Newbury street in Boston educating other stylists on the art of cutting hair. I have been a part of many teams that have traveled both in and outside of the us. Inspiring and training others in my industry for many years has kept my skills fresh and current.
I currently still work as a Master educator for John Paul Mitchell Systems and Donald Scott NYC. Seven years ago, I opened Hot Set Hair Studio and I get to be a day maker. I love customizing color, cut, and style one guest at a time. I currently employ several stylists and we train together to create the ultimate salon experience.
” Hair is the only accessory you wear everyday”
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As any successful person will tell you the only thing you can count on in business is change. I have learned to stay forward focused and positive. Taking the high road and keeping a professional outlook works for me. I also enjoy a challenge and I have realized I will rise to the occasion and get it done.
So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Hot Set Hair Studio story. Tell us more about the business.
At the studio our focus is our guests positive experience. We pride ourselves in providing the most customized services to empower our guests to rock their own style. We insure each guest visit starts with a consultation guided by our knowledgeable team of professional stylists. The studio also prides itself on advanced color, cutting, and styling techniques for all. Each guest will receive a relaxing lather lounge experience that includes a warm towel and scalp massage.
We are very proud of our ability to collaborate as a team to give each salon guest the best result. After all it is about our guests not our egos.
Our stylists will deliver a style with knowledge that will give you the tools you need to style your hair at home. Our mission at the studio is to be our guests happy place where they feel a part of our salon family.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I feel lucky and truly blessed to have found this career path at such a young age and still love it! It has been said if you love your career you will never feel as if you work a day in your life. I am passionate about making people feel and look their very best. I enjoy being a mentor to my staff and sharing the endless possibilities that the future can hold.
