Meet Rich Kim of Keller Williams Cambridge in Boston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rich Kim.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Rich. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
So it all started during my sophomore year in college, when I obtained my real estate license and began selling and leasing residential real estate along with running a family owned development firm based in Allston. After graduating I went on to work for the Related Companies with the development and lease up of The Clarendon – One Back Bay in Copley along with some luxury mixed use development projects in New York City. In 2010, I left Related to open my own brokerage Realty Lords in Allston. Our brokerage went on to develop and maintain the largest database of apartment video tours in the nation, providing our landlords with the opportunity to advertise their properties to incoming students and working professionals internationally through our platform.

In May of 2017, I was given the opportunity by Jessica Ye and Hudson Santana to take over as the CEO and Team Leader for Keller Williams Cambridge. Our Market Center has experienced rapid growth since and we just finished 2017 with over $390 Million in Sales, officially making us the fast growing brokerage in New England. We are currently working towards expanding our footprint into Somerville, Allston, Brighton, Arlington, Malden & Medford.

The decision to join Keller Williams and to lead our Market Center was an easy one due to our industry leading and highly reputable training systems along with our innovative integrated technological platforms and culture. In 2017, Forbes Magazine rated KW the Happiest Company in America and we just received the triple crown award leading the nation in Agent Count with 176,000 agents, 1.1 Million units sold and a whopping sales volume of $300 Billion.

Outside of KW and my development company, I am also a Board Member for the Asian Real Estate Association of America and recently hosted our sold-out Gala at Granite Links Country Club in Quincy where we raised over $80K for our continuous efforts to provide education and sustainable home ownership to AAPI communities throughout the US through education philanthropy and advocacy.

In 2018, we are looking to bring the GameChanger Panel home to Boston through AREAA EDGE our YPN, with panelists including Gary Vaynerchuk, Frederik Eklund from Million Dollar Listing and Paul Moya of Millenial Labs to share their secrets on creating a powerful social media presence to become successful entrepreneurs.

In 2019, we will be hosting our National Convention here in Boston which will be the second largest Real Estate Convention in Boston’s history and the largest AAPI Professional Networking event to be held East of the Mississippi!

It’s such an exciting time for our dynamic and ever evolving real estate industry and market in Greater Boston as more and more businesses and corporations are interested in relocating or expanding their footprint in Boston, coupled with our residential inventory at historic lows.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been lots of speed bumps and forks along the way, but much of my success is attributed to the mentors in my life who have continuously provided me with great advice and opportunities to help me get to where I am today.

At 33 years old, I can honestly say that there are not many in my position within our industry, but I also see this as an opportunity to provide a different perspective to my leadership role as a millenial.

From working in the sales, development, management & non-profit sectors of Real Estate simultaneously, it forces me to wear many hats, but I am getting better at this every day.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Keller Williams Cambridge – what should we know?
We are a Market Center of 115 Agents in Greater Boston with some of the most talented top producers in New England. I love walking through the front doors of our headquarters every single morning because I truly respect and admire every single agent in our Market Center. This past Monday we were just acknowledged to be the fasting growing Market Center in all of New England in 2017. While we were out in Anaheim for Family Reunion, after a long day of masterminding and networking with 20,000 fellow KW agents and leaders, I came home and couldn’t help but post my thoughts about working with the wonderful and successful professionals that make up KW Cambridge.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I never accepted the notion that I was too young to accomplish certain goals or take on certain roles. I tend to hit the ground running and figure out the smaller details along the way. I am results oriented and believe that by utilizing my time wisely with proper goals setting and planning I am better able to grow and achieve my desired results in several roles and capacities simultaneously. I’m a firm believer in the fact that your business grows to the extent that you do.

I continuously strive to take on new challenges and believe that training and learning is a never-ending process as we are all forever students in a life lived by design and not by default.
