Meet Sara Little & Kenneth Fielding of LittleField Salon in Quincy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Little & Kenneth Fielding.

As fate would have it, Kenneth Fielding walked into a hair salon after moving back east from San Diego and Sara colored his hair. Within a couple weeks they were working side by side, the connection was immediate. Fifteen years later, Sara Little and Kenneth opened their debut atelier LittleField Salon, and the energy been them is still palpable. LittleField Salon opened in July 2015 in the Quincy neighborhood called Houghs Neck.

Sara’s great-grandfather was a barber, which contributes to her natural skill in men’s grooming. Along with uncontrived approach to cutting hair to enhance the natural texture giving a modern, lived in feel to her guest’s style, Kenneth has continually refined his process, as one of the most sought after colorists in the Boston area. He is always fixing his eyes on the future of the beauty industry. “My mission is to give our guest individual style that reflects the skills of a well-educated stylist.”

Has it been a smooth road?
Let’s start by saying, we always believed in it, our story, in ourselves, it wasn’t an easy road. It took a lot of dreaming and even more hard work and long nights to get to where we are now. It has always been about the vibe. We looked at so many different spaces, so many did not work. Nothing could feel forced, timing had to be right. And it all finally was. There are still challenges, without them we wouldn’t push ourselves to be better. There are victories too. That’s the fun. The balance.

We pride ourselves on having cultivated a product list that includes the finest brands from around the world – including Affinage hair color, Jack Winn Color, as well as Kevin Murphy and ELEVEN Australia styling ranges.

Neither of us are complacent. I think there is always room to grow and build upon your skill set. We love to challenge each other to step out of our comfort zones. We’ve always believed that staying open and receptive to new ideas and concepts is the only way to stay current and relevant, two things that are crucial to our business.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
After scouring various locations and weighing the pros and cons of each, Quincy, became the obvious choice for many reasons. LittleField Salon is based on the peninsula called Houghs Neck, one of many small neighborhoods in the large coastal city. Situated just 15 minutes south of downtown Boston the salon has carved out a niche becoming a destination location, with our work being recognized to include clientele seeking us out from South Boston to Hingham. Although Quincy is home to almost 100,000 residents it still maintains a small town feel paired with strong community commitments. The city is undergoing a massive downtown revitalization, making its mark on the culinary scene, and gentrification is taking place in most of the neighborhoods and giving the founders of LittleField Salon a “right time, right place” kind of vibe.

From natural, hand painted, perfectly placed highlights that grow out seamlessly to vivid, bold, creative colours or eradicating those sparkly strands that show up every 3 weeks we have you “covered”.
AMERICAN WAVES (starting at $250, includes haircut) Developed by Nick Arrojo, this is the future of retexturing straight hair to give it soft waves, unbelievable body and all movement with a fresh modern feel. Consultation is required.
BALAYAGE (starting at $100) A hair painting technique to create a graduated, natural looking effect for a “lived-in” look
CLASSIC CUTS (starting at $45) Your haircut should reflect your lifestyle. We will make sure that your cut works with your natural texture, be simple to style and grow out effortlessly. We value your time and will educate you on the best products and any needed tools to maintain your mane as efficiently possible.

THERAPUETIC TREATMENTS (starting at $30) Kevin Murphy TREAT.ME offers a full range of in salon treatments that work from deep inside each hair strand to repair damage caused by chemical services and heat styling. “Super Proteins” penetrate easily leaving your hair soft, supple and full of shine. “A facial for your hair”.
