Meet Kristen MacNeil of Joli Medical Spa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen MacNeil.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kristen. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started Nursing in 1993 after graduating from St Elizabeths School of Nursing in Brighton MA. 25 years and many positions in various fields of nursing later, I am currently working for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. Over the last 5 years, I have cared for assault patients in 7 hospitals along the South Coast of Massachusetts. During this time I have witnessed many patients men, woman and transgender suffer at the hands of another. So many with no self-worth and some with nothing but what they have on their backs.

My purpose is always to help my patients feel safe, comfortable and most of all valued. Last year I decided to try my hands at something I thought I would never do. Nursing Aesthetics seemed to me a great way to help others feel more confident, see their value and also teach about overall health and wellness. It sounded Interesting and would be a definite change of pace. After taking several classes at the Aesthetic Institute of Massachusetts I decided to work on my own. I have taken numerous classes and been certified in many procedures and have also started working as a clinical instructor at AIM.

My medical director, Dr. Joseph Russo, a plastic surgeon in Newton has enabled me to try my hand at my own business. My goals now are to continue with my education, provide teaching to others who are interested in the field and to also educate my patients who come in to me for visits about healthy habits, skin care for teens to adults, and lastly to provide an inviting place where you feel good about yourself when you leave.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has not always been smooth. Aesthetic treatments are expensive and I am constantly trying to find a good balance. As a nurse, I had never dealt with the business side of work. I punched in and punched out. I never had to ask a patient for money. This is my biggest struggle and it has been extremely difficult. I’m learning!

We’d love to hear more about your business.

We specialize in facial injectables, medical weight loss, vitamin injections, collagen induction therapy with platelet-rich plasma also known as the Vampire Facial, Hair Restoration with PRP and microblading. These are only a few of our high-quality services. We are the only Medical Spa in Marshfield and we have an innovative heat laser machine called Sculpsure that permanently eliminates fat for body sculpting and contouring.

I am so proud of the advanced technology we have brought in to the Spa over the last year which I hope to share with my community and the surrounding communities. I have three beautiful women inside and out who work with me. Rachael is a Registered Nurse and an Esthetician. She has been with me for the last 7 months helping me grow the business. We have added special procedures such as microdermabrasion, the regenerate facial, dermaplaning, and creating special facials for woman, men, and teens.

We have also branded our very own handmade facial masks, clay masks and toners called Joli Girl. Rachael’s skills in facial evaluation and her gentle soothing ways are simply amazing. I couldn’t have asked for anyone better to come into my life. She’s a wiz!! Joeimy has a Bachelors degree from Northeastern University in Criminal Justice, She is an esthetician and skilled in microblading. She is continuing her education to pursue a career in nursing. And our newest addition is Deanna Tuplin an Esthetician and Lash artist. She has been certified in Microblading. Her skills as an artist are bar none.

What sets me apart from others is my experience as a nurse for 25 years. I treat others as how I would want to be treated I live by the do no harm moto. I am conservative but will also teach and educate each patient about the procedure and the most effective and cost-effective way to get the look they deserve and or yearn for. Helping to increase self-esteem and confidence by listening.
