Meet Gregory Raiz of Raizlabs in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gregory Raiz.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Went to school in the Boston area at Tufts University… went out to Seattle for a number of years and worked at Microsoft… Decided to move back closer to family and start a business. Lived in Coolidge corner and started Raizlabs… After a few years had a buddy of mine join me. We entered the mobile space right as Apple released the iPhone and we ended up making a number of apps for companies around the area (RunKeeper, Hubspot, BrainShark, Care.com, RueLaLa and many others). The business has grown over the years and we were acquired late 2017… now continuing the journey and having fun.

Has it been a smooth road?
A lot of challenges along the way, starting a company isn’t easy. In the early days it was finding clients and customers, then it was how to grow a team, then it was learning to manage and grow. Each time the business grows we have to re-learn a lot about how to operate things.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Raizlabs story. Tell us more about the business.
Our company helps design innovative technology, primarily around mobile and web-based applications. We work with companies to help them build new mobile products, design new software experiences and build voice, VR, AR and other technologies.

We set ourselves apart by focusing on end-to-end customer experiences and putting a strong product oriented slant on how software should be built. We’re unique in this respect and we’re saught out by companies large and small looking to transform their business with innovative technology.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We believe that we’re building the agency of the future. There are many agencies that take either a consulting first approach or an advertising-driven approach. We believe that the agency of the future is driven by product and customer experiences. We’re helping define those by being digital first.
