Meet Tisha Scott of Alluring Beauty in Jamaica Plain

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tisha Scott.

Tisha, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started doing hair 13+ years ago. Being quite fine being an independent contractor. Who would have thought 13+ years later I would have my own salon. I have a passion for this industry and I love every moment of my profession. I am a new salon owner, as a matter of fact, I just celebrated my one year anniversary April 1st, 2017. Prior to me opening my salon I worked in the Back Bay Area in Copley, that was a great experience that prepared me to become a business owner. I wanted my salon to be “thee” salon that everyone loved and enjoyed their pampering time. Everyone that comes in has that feel of exclusiveness and priority. I believe everyone deserves personal attention and that’s what we give. I am passionate about hair and the integrity for exceptional service.

As the owner I continue to enhance my skills with ongoing education to learn the newest techniques. I would say I am a well versed hairstylist in many areas including cutting, coloring, weaving and many more. I have a great team of stylist that offer satisfaction in men, or women cuts, weaving and coloring.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I definitely can say we all have the idea of things running smoothly but that’s not always the case. I have ran into issues with certain laws being changed months after opening my salon and caused a little shake up. But I’ve always been the type to believe in better days when I go through obstacles. That was a small hump that has passed and I can say it’s been smooth sailing ever since.

Alluring Beauty is a diverse salon that specializes in our cuts and color. I have had clients spot my haircuts on other clients at different gatherings. That blows my mind when I hear that. I feel proud of the buzz around town about Alluring. New clients come in a talk about how they heard that we are professional and attentive to every detail. My clients love that they can come in and out without a long wait or stylist over booking.

What set us apart from other salons is we have created a place that is your home away from home, where you can relax and have a good time and leave feeling pampered. Everyone feels welcomed when they visit us. And our coffee and hot coco isn’t that bad either. 🙂

What were you like growing up?
As a child I have always been a go getter. I couldn’t wait to work and get a summer job when I turned 13. I set goals as a child so I knew what I wanted to do. I loved hanging with the older kids because my personality was mature. Even though I wanted to do hair I also wanted to learn more about the internet. So I went to college for Multi Media and Web Designing. I know that has no relations but I tried it out and I still end up doing hair.
