Meet Fred Betti of Papa’s Hardware

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fred Betti.

Fred, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
For many years, I have owned and operated an industrial supply company and often thought about having a hardware store. Being located in the same town as SPAGS kept me from opening my own store until about 5 years ago when SPAGS closed. I decided that it was time to give it a shot, and Papa’s Hardware was born. We are a small family operated business located on Route 9 in Shrewsbury.

Has it been a smooth road?
The biggest struggle that we have encountered is getting people to realize that we are here and that we are competitive with our pricing and products. We may not have everything, but we certainly will try to find something that a customer needs to complete their project.

We are also often at the mercy of Mother Nature. It is difficult to sell mulch and spring plants in May when it is still 30 degrees outside.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We specialize in customer service and really work hard to help provide the best products at competitive prices for our customers. We offer key cutting, single pane glass cutting, screen repair, knife sharpening, and small engine repair.

We have an amazing team of employees who strive to make the experience a great one from the time the customer walks through the door until he or she pulls out of the parking lot.

I am most proud of my staff and the hard work they put in to make the business a success.

We are a great neighborhood hardware store.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
YES! Shrewsbury is a great town!! I grew up here, it seems only right that I would grow my family and my business here.
