Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole DiGiusto.
Nicole, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was brought up in the Restaraunt business. My parents were young entrepreneurs and owned several restaurants from The West Coast of California to Massachusetts. One of the chefs in Santa Maria California left some secret recipes to Mexican food from his hometown so my dad decided to try his hand at Mexican and we opened one of the first Mexican Restaurants in Boston in 1978…
I began dishwashing when I was a young teen, worked my way up to head cook working weekends etc through high school. My dad decided to sell because I wanted my phone in place and have always dreamed of a waterfront cafe which came true for me in 2000. I had Carmen’s Cafe Nicole on historic Plymouth waterfront for 16 years. I decided to sell and follow my parents to Florida, little did I know I found myself back to the place I truly loved, Boston.
I found a small place we transformed into a little place and made it into one of my fathers old successful Mexican Restaurants. I now do Mexican Breakfast and Lunch? I cater and we do awesome Taco Bars. We just won Best of Boston Brunch on the South Shore. I love what I do and my family helps always. We are going on 2 years and continue great growth. We love Norwell.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road is never easy. I have not always made great decisions. No risk no reward. I worked so hard at one of my startups, I had collapsed but my family took over till I was well. This Business is hard and grueling. When I look back at all of it this is where I am suppose to be and I wouldn’t have changed a thing. I worked hard all my life, gave back, respected others, I lost a lot taking chances and trying new things and wound up at the bottom more than a couple things, but have also been successful.
