Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Beerman.
Courtney, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My mom started a catering company when I was middle school and I loved working with her so much that I decided that I would also like to be in the food business. I loved the idea of having a flexible schedule and every day being a little bit different, which led me to starting my personal chef business- Pearl Plates. These days I prepare dinner for several families each week and cater small cocktail and dinner parties.
Has it been a smooth road?
It can be hard at first to get your name out there but I found that just talking to people everywhere you go leads to some amazing connections!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Pearl Plates story. Tell us more about the business.
Most of the families I work for are busy families with young children that just don’t have time to make the nutritious meals they want their family to be eating. I work with them to create menus that will appeal to the whole family and to take the stress out of dinner time. I really take the time to know each family I work for so that I can provide each family with what works best for them.
Lately, I have helped quite a few people through a whole eating lifestyle shift called the Whole30 by providing all of their meals so they can insure they are sticking to the plan and adopting healthy, sustainable habits.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I expect my industry to grow quite a bit over the next 5-10 years. People are starting to really value good, fresh, wholesome food but don’t necessarily have the time. The more people learn about personal chefs and how they can transform their eating the more people will hire personal chefs! No more takeout!!
