Meet Marcia Mariner of Mariner Center for Human Development in MetroWest

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcia Mariner.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Marcia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Ever since I started my professional career in the psychology field, I have been weaving in spirituality into my approach, way before it was mainstream to do so. It was at age 25 when I took a self-development workshop that I had a vision of opening up a retreat center for wellness where people could come to renew, resource and recharge and connect with like-spirited companions.

In 1990, I left the clinical position I was working at in a hospital and started my private practice as a counselor and facilitator of personal growth retreats. My husband, Mark, a former trial lawyer had made a career shift into the same field and we rented our first office together in 1992. Our practice and community started to thrive. We gave multiple personal development workshops over the years, for individuals, couples, and parents.

Finally, in 2005 the Mariner Center for Human Development was born. My dream for a wellness center was realized when we purchased a beautiful facility in Auburn Mass. (marinercenter.com) We continue to serve an evolving community of clients. In addition, we have a staff of other wellness practitioners at the center.

However, recently, the Mariner Center is evolving. We are expanding globally and we are upgrading our current local facility. HeartFlow Living Institute is in the process of being created and will have both a local and global impact. Until that is up and running, I have a new personal website (marciamariner.com) which people can check out and sign up for the new services being offered.

Currently, I offer gatherings, coaching services, and community support both virtually and in person for HeartPowered women. The clients I am currently serving are those that have had a heart awakening and who are ready to transform their lives, discover their path to purpose and manifest wealth from the inside out.

I am focusing on serving women who have a vision for themselves and who want to serve from their spiritual gifts. I am passionate about empowering women to create the life of their dreams aligned with their soul’s purpose. I call this their sacred wealth blueprint. It is all there inside us. When we learn to tap that and co-create with it, we can manifest our heart’s desire. This is my message and women who know they are meant for more know that they need support and community are welcome to contact me.

Has it been a smooth road?
The biggest struggle for me has been cultivating “divine patience.” In both my own personal development and in manifesting my dreams in my path to purpose, I have always wanted tomorrow to happen yesterday. It took 25 years before my vision of a center was realized.

Because my husband Mark and I have a similar vision and are creating it together, it has been challenging to respect our unique differences and stay in the unity in our hearts when we at times are so different. But it has been the best gift at the same time. We mysteriously complement each other in ways that remind me that what we are about is way beyond us personally. Our sacred bond of couple is underneath and supports all that we are creating together.

And now, the vision of the new global and local form called HeartFlow Living Institute has been in my heart for many years. It required a long incubation period and because it is a joint venture with my husband, it also requires a high degree of unity between us. We have been married a long time and keeping our hearts open to one another while being in practice together, making financial decisions and raising our children have been challenges that we have faced and worked through together.

It is all good because for our world to shift into a more heart-centered one, it is vital that we learn to keep our hearts open to our loved ones and then to spread the light to the world around us. Most of us know that our shadow sides are often mirrored in our relationships with those closest to us. This challenge has helped us serve our clients in a more powerful way because we are walking the walk each day and committed to keeping our spark alive. If we can do it we can also show you how to do the same!

I have always been “out in front” when it came to what I wanted to create and manifest. My husband is open, but I have always felt more of an urgency to create new and more evolved forms of services. It was me who knew we needed to expand globally.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Mariner Center for Human Development story. Tell us more about the business.
To the outer world, it may look like we are mainstream therapists, workshop facilitators and owners of a wellness center.

But to those who resonate with our message, mission, and purpose, we are much more than that. Not all of the clients we serve become part of our heart-centered community. But over the years, we have become known as professionals who walk the walk, talk the talk, share our hearts with our clients and create deep lasting connections.

This type of connection is what allows heart transformation to occur. This is what we are passionate about. We are passionate about awakening our clients to the mystery and beauty of who they are, transforming their pain to a life of purpose and supporting them to birth their unique initiative for our evolving world.

We are committed to doing this, one heart at a time. It is our vision for a “new earth” that underlies all that we do. The universal spirituality that we embody and that we transmit to all who come into our energy container is in our small way what we can contribute to create a more humane and sustainable world for future generations.

We are known for creating a very safe and beautiful setting for transformation to occur. We are also known for creating a community or like spirited companions dedicated to living a heart-centered life.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see a big shift happening, especially for the old paradigm of what it means to be a traditionally trained therapist. I see the therapists of the future as “Transformers”. What I mean by that is that they will be modern-day shamans, who, by their own awakening can guide others on their path to transformation.

Purely academic training without undergoing one’s own spiritual journey will be something of the past. It is already happening. But I see that path as expanding as people are seeking authenticity from their helpers.

I see that we are moving away from the age of “information” to the age of “inspiration”. What will be most valuable to clients are people who are not just giving them skills and tools, but who inspire and empower them by the energy they are transmitting to them. This energy is what I see as the new paradigm as we are shifting out of an old mind dominated way of being the heart brain intelligence,

We will move away from a “disease model” of diagnosing and treating clients as passive patients with whom we are at a distance from. We will see more people seeking online services and coaching services rather than years of traditional therapy where change is incremental at best.

And we will see more “tribes” forming as people find their spiritual family with whom they can become fully soul realized and free themselves from any limited view of themselves and what they can accomplish.

With the latest advances in neuroscience and all of the information that is available online, clients will have the information that they need to develop new neural pathways and activate dormant parts of themselves. This is such an exciting time to be on the planet as more and more people are waking up. We are multidimensional humans capable of accessing higher dimensions of consciousness. This new paradigm will allow other modalities to enhance traditional treatment, as is already occurring and offer clients more effective means to get unstuck and create the lives they truly want.
