Meet Patricia Sinacole of First Beacon Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patricia Sinacole.

Patricia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Started my business in 2001 in the Philadelphia area. We moved to Boston area in 2002. I was born in Newton and graduated from Umass/Amherst and Babson so had roots in the area. Began networking and building relationships with business leaders in the area. Began writing for the Boston Globe and blogging for boston.com. Slowly but steadily grew our business. Clients include a cross-section of industries but our client base is fairly representative of businesses across eastern Massachusetts — technology, biotech, medical devices, nonprofits, edtech, professional services and media.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not sure if building a business is ever a smooth road. Lots of mistakes and learnings along the way. Struggles including saying no to clients who might not be a fit for our business or staffing for the peaks and valleys of a services business.

Please tell us about First Beacon Group.
We are a Human Resources consulting firm. We provide a range of HR services to small and mid-sized companies. We are known for providing high quality and cost-effective services to our clients. Some clients call us the “swiss army knife of HR” since we can handle most any HR challenge. We handle recruitment, employee relations, compensation, affirmative action plans, compliance. employee handbooks and workplace investigations.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I lived in a great neighborhood where we played outside until the street lights came on. We skated, sled, swam, built forts and had neighborhood plays.
