Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Randi Jo and Dr. Marc Steiner.
Dr. Randi Jo and Dr. Marc, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Dr. Randi Jo – I grew up with a passion for the performing arts. Though I loved to act and sing, dance was my one true love. The main reason I love the art of dance so much was its ability to change a person’s emotion immediately, a person’s outlook or perspective, and make a visceral connection with people. I had a dream of becoming a professional modern dancer. But something was missing. I wasn’t being completely fulfilled and I knew there was something else on the horizon, calling for me to make a positive impact on humanity… I just didn’t know what it was.
I grew up a healthy, vibrant, energetic, optimistic child. I never got sick even when all my friends at school did. I always knew I was “different” than the other kids but I didn’t really know why. If you haven’t guessed by now, I was fortunate enough to grow up as a chiropractic kid; both of my parents are chiropractors. I witnessed all of the healing miracles that occurred in their office and knew that I had that capacity in my hands, too. I decided to become a chiropractor to help people who have “slipped through the cracks.” True healing comes from within; I have lived this principle and know it to be true. My purpose in life is to share the extraordinary gift of chiropractic with the world helping parents make better decisions for themselves and their children.
Dr. Marc and I graduated from Life University in Atlanta, Georgia with our Doctor of Chiropractic degrees in September of 2016, moved to Exeter in April of this year, opened our practice from scratch on May 17th and got married on June 17th. So we have had quite the past year! As crazy and challenging as it has been, we have had fun. We created Steiner Family Chiropractic in order to provide the Exeter community with a unique healthcare experience. We are both so passionate about chiropractic and allowing every individual the opportunity to achieve their true health potential regardless of current circumstances.
Dr. Marc – In my late teens and early twenties I was headed down a rough road, I had little direction in my life and if I didn’t change the way I was living I would face the consequences of my actions. An old family friend reached out to me and offered to help. He told me that chiropractic care could help both my mind and body function better. I decided to give it a shot. A month later I was back in school with a new lease on life. I decided I wanted to become a chiropractor myself to help others the way I was helped. I met my wife, Dr. Randi Jo, halfway through school, almost 3 years ago now. We knew early on that we wanted to be together forever and open an office to serve our community. I am originally from South Carolina and, unlike most, I actually enjoy the cold and snow so I had no problem returning to New England with Randi Jo when we graduated.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Dr. Randi Jo – There have been plenty of obstacles on the road to where we are today, as there always is with starting your own business. We were as high-risk as they come for opening a new business – young, newly graduated chiropractors. But we received incredible guidance and support from our family and chiropractic mentors. And now witnessing the healing that is occurring in our office by simply allowing one’s body to heal and better adapt to its environment, every obstacle overcome has been so worth it.
Dr. Marc – It has been anything but… from trouble finding financing to learning all we didn’t know about running a business we have faced numerous obstacles. From both cars breaking down and having to Uber to work, to being married and working together. Every day is an adventure, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Please tell us about Steiner Family Chiropractic.
Dr. Randi Jo – At Steiner Family Chiropractic we believe that every man, woman and especially child has the right to live a healthy, happy, and vibrant life. Our office is more than just another chiropractic office; it’s a community of like-minded people who put health as a priority in their lives.
Today’s children experience an increasing amount of ‘mixed messages’ from peers, parents, school, social media, and television. It has been my life-long experience as a “chiro kid” and is my firm belief that chiropractic care allows one to be able to deal with and adapt to the inevitable stresses of being a developing kid or adult. While I am committed to helping every individual experience health, I find myself drawn to children. To help them feel safe, supported, valuable, unique, and that they truly belong. To help those that have been told there is nothing that can be done or that you must learn to live with it. Far too many people today accept poor health as being normal…it isn’t!
What I am most proud of is our ability to create a place of hope for those people who have been told that nothing can be done. At Steiner Family Chiropractic, we are committed to finding a way for you and your family to regain health. That is our promise to you.
Dr. Marc – I am a chiropractor who is focused on taking you from where you are to where you want to be. When the bones of our spine shift out of their normal alignment, much like the foundation of a house shifting, problems show up elsewhere in the body. By restoring the normal alignment, we are able to function optimally with a strong foundation. The area I am most passionate about is folks who have been struggling to find answers to their health situation. Those with a concussion, other TBI, and neurological and neurodegenerative disorders often feel trapped by their diagnoses, and many never learn about alternative options, such as chiropractic care in our office.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Dr. Randi Jo – My father, Dr. Kevin Pallis, is a full-time chiropractic mentor, helping chiropractors become the best versions of themselves, as well as helping new chiropractors open their own practices. He was beyond instrumental every step of the way for us as we opened and still is. We are the chiropractors we are today because of his mentorship. We are so grateful for his guidance and support.
We definitely would not be where we are today without the love and support we received from both of our families. Planning to open your own business right after graduation at the age of 25 and 27 seems a little crazy to most, but our family stood by our side through the entire, wild process.
Dr. Marc – I have the most supportive, incredible family, they have loved me through good times and bad. My first chiropractor has been an incredible mentor and friend for years. My in-laws are extremely supportive as well.
