Meet Matt Spink of East Coast Martial Arts Academies in Quincy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Spink.

East Coast Martial Arts Academies is run and operated by Shihan Donald Spink and his son, Sensei Matt. The school has been open for over 40 years and is the longest-running school in Quincy, MA. The school specializes in realistic self-defense for students of all ages; including classes in Krav Maga, Kenpo karate, and Brazilian Ju-Jitsu.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Running a martial arts school is not always a smooth road, however, we believe what has kept us open for 40 years is the same set of principles and values we like to instill in our students. We believe in punctuality, hard work, dedication, motivation, and doing everything with a smile.

Please tell us about East Coast Martial Arts Academies.
We believe what sets us apart is our focus on customer service and taking a personal interest in every students’ individual success. We believe in making our martial arts programs an avenue for learning life skills. We want all of our students to be confident, capable and self-assured.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Over the years, we have made our share of mistakes, but here at ECMAA, we believe in always looking forward. Those who spend too much time looking behind them can never move forward. We try to pass this mindset onto our students; to never dwell on their mistakes too long.
