Meet Saharnaz Rezania, Acupuncturist in Wayland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Saharnaz Rezania.

Saharnaz, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I studied mechanical Engineering and worked in the field for a few years until my children were born. My interest in natural health, led me to go back to school and study Chinese Medicine. I first studied in Canada where we used to live for a couple of years and then continued my education in New England School of Acupuncture in Massachusetts, where I got my Master’s degree in Acupuncture. I practice Acupuncture in Wayland from my home office. I incorporate nutrition and western herbs in my practice whenever needed. I am passionate about using Chinese Medicine to help people reach a higher level of wellbeing.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Western mind is used to quick fixes. Western medicine deals with symptoms. Chinese medicine is about addressing the root causes of disease. In Chronic cases healing takes time and requires nourishing body in ways that people are not used to. We are used to pushing hard and not getting enough rest. Most of us spend very little time in nature and eat fast and not so nutritious food. Many people don’t know about this very ancient and powerful medicine. I spend most of my time, educating people about the influence of Acupuncture.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I work with a variety of health concerns, from muscular pain to digestive issues. I have very good success with those. What I am very drawn to, is helping people with stress and anxiety. I have studied human psychology in Chinese medicine and have found it fascinating. I find it very rewarding when some very old emotional issues can be resolve in a couple of sessions. Everyone is different and reacts differently to acupuncture, but I have seen some powerful healing take place in my treatment room.

What were you like growing up?
I grew up in Iran and spoke Farsi predominantly until I moved to the US at age 23. I love poetry and good food!

I have always been interested in Math. I love problem solving. Almost like a detective! That has served me well with my patients.

I also love dancing and swimming. Both of those give me a sense of wellbeing. Nothing like swimming in Walden Pond!
