Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Keswick.
Matt, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
While at Boston College, I interned for the Mitt Romney for United States Senate campaign in his race against Ted Kennedy. Following graduation, I took that intern experience to the Governor’s office, where I had the pleasure of working for three governors – Bill Weld, Paul Cellucci, and Jane Swift. Having served as a senior staffer in these administrations, I decided to take my knowledge and experience to the private sector and founded Keswick Consulting, a Boston-based government affairs firm started 16 years ago.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No road is completely smooth and, while I have been very lucky, I’ve had my fair share of speed bumps and learning opportunities in my career. Just after I struck out on my own, the attacks on September 11th occurred and the world seemed uncertain. I found that, having just worked in the administrations of three amazing governors, the instability that followed made the launch of a new business that much more difficult.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Keswick Consulting is a boutique government relations firm specializing in the decision-making process of the executive branch. I’d say that we’re known for being a firm in Massachusetts that works to strengthen relationships and further our clients’ goals.
I believe the thing that sets us apart from the others is that when someone hires Keswick Consulting, they get Keswick. I make sure all my clients have my personal contact information and I am intimately involved in helping each client reach its goals.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a curious kid who wanted to know about the world. My curiosity led me to be excited about information – I was a straight A student – and excited about discovery.
