Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike DiNatale.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Mike. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Cinematography and Storytelling have always been a passion of mine. I have always been drawn to creating images with a unique voice and mood. During college, I worked on countless student films as a cinematographer, director and editor. My friends always referred to me as the post-production wizard because whenever they couldn’t figure out a problem they were having on set or in a post, I would come up with a solution. I received my first IMDB credit as an assistant director on Ancient Tomorrow, a short docu-film about a man and his search for ancient technology. My second and Third credits came as a video editor and VFX artist on Polarity Movie, which received an award at the Madrid International Film Festival in 2015. After studying film production at the University of Colorado, I moved to Denver where I developed my skills as a Motion Graphics Artist. Now that I am back in Massachusetts, I have been building a network of clients here and across the country.
Has it been a smooth road?
I have made several attempts to build a production company in the past, and have been a part of a few other times in the past. It is full of ups and downs, sleepless nights trying to perfect a video that ultimately receives 75 views on YouTube or Facebook. Sometimes you feel like you’re making these videos for just yourself. But with the setbacks come successes too. I have recently been producing videos which are getting more and more exposure. And I find that when I see a client receive the positive feedback or accomplish what they set out to with a video that I have produced for them is what I love most about my work.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Wider Aperture – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
The Wider Aperture specializes in Cinematography. We work with several shooter networks which hire us to film on a day-to-day basis. In addition to being behind the camera, we provide post-production services ranging from Video Editing and Color Grading to 3D Animation and Motion Graphics. We have helped companies around the Boston and Denver area raise $10 million last year and are looking forward to taking on more clients this coming year. We are FAA certified to offer professional aerial photography and aim to be a one-stop shop for individuals and businesses looking to develop an ongoing media relationship. We offer the services that other videographers don’t so that you don’t have to search for media solutions when it comes to crunch time.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Boston is full of entrepreneurs and small business owners, it is a very motivated town. I like being surrounded by like-minded people who share my drive, except during rush hour. Traffic here can be a hassle.
