Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeffrey McKinnon.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve been doing Carpentry for as long as I can remember. My father taught me a lot, and as I got older I decided I enjoyed it enough to pursue it as a career.
It’s been great beginning my own company because I get to work closely with clients on how they want their project to turn out. Not only that, but I can work directly with people’s budgets and timelines in order to keep their schedule and wallets intact.
McKinnon Painting and Carpentry Inc. is a family company as I now work alongside my father every day. We’re based out of Allston but able to travel. We enjoy what we do and the people we get to work with, keep us in mind when researching your next renovation project!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting anything can be challenging. I think at first making sure I kept my estimates competitive was something I wanted to be very cognitive of. My hope is to over-deliver on all of my jobs, so making sure I was able to do so is always top of mind.

We specialize in restoration and renovations. We love historical homes and have plenty of experience keeping in mind restoring the character in older homes.

My father and my grandfather are both my biggest mentors. They are incredible supporters and have had my best interest at heart since I opened!
