Meet Bob Adams of BusinessTown.com in Cambridge

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bob Adams.

Bob, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been starting businesses since I was a teenager. Some of my early businesses were quite easy-to-start. I began a house painting business, a bicycle rental business, traded used boats and created maps for tourists.

Later, I started more complex businesses. I began a magazine business, a job fair business, a book publishing business, a software company and Internet businesses including BusinessTown.com, an e-learning platform for business owners.

Most of my businesses were highly successful, although I typically started them with little money and little experience. I began my book publishing business in my basement apartment with just $1500 and sold it for $40 million.

I have helped millions of entrepreneurs find success through my many business books and articles, and through my BusinessTown.com website which offers over 800 free how-to videos about starting and running businesses.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Running out of cash in early under financed businesses was the biggest obstacle.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the BusinessTown.com story. Tell us more about the business.
