Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathryn Soderberg.
Kathryn is the president of Soderberg Insurance Services and has served in this position for over fifteen years. She has an undergraduate degree from Colby College and a master’s degree from Penn State University.
She is fluent in Spanish and has led the agency’s foray into the Hispanic marketplace where they are a recognized leader. Currently, over thirty percent of the clients are Hispanic and several members of the staff are multilingual.
She was engaged by metropolitan life and health (metlife) to address a special initiative of metlife regarding the unique challenges for agencies who seek to be successful in the Hispanic market. She has been the subject of several featured articles in rough notes magazine, a national magazine in for insurance professionals on this same subject. The standard magazine, new England’s leading insurance news publication featured her for her expertise in this unique marketplace.
She is a frequently invited guest speaker for business groups. The agency has received national recognition from Inc magazine and mci for providing outstanding customer service. Soderberg insurance was selected as one of 40 finalists nationwide to receive this honor she also was selected by the governor of Massachusetts to participate in a trade mission to South America to investigate business opportunities in Brazil, Argentina and Chile. Other awards include recognition for leadership, strategy and community service. She was also recognized as an outstanding woman leader in a family owned business in Massachusetts.
She and her agency have offered mentoring programs for undergraduates at her Alma Mater, Colby College as well as internships for MBA candidates at Endicott College offering exposure to the insurance field. She currently serves on providence mutual insurance company’s agency council advising the company on best practices.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Staffing has always been an issue. We have high expectations and have had struggles with finding competent staff.

Athletic and goal oriented, driven by the want to accomplish tasks with a positive attitude.
Languages and tennis were primary interests and still are.
