Meet Kuan Chen and Nicholas Williamson of Tai Chi Acupuncture & Wellness Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kuan Chen and Nicholas Williamson.

Kuan and Nicholas met over a chance encounter via Craigslist. Nick (33 yrs. old) a hypnotherapist and self-employed business man answered the ad of “Teach Tai Chi in Your Home”, An ad which was posted by then a thirty-one-year-old man from Taiwan named Kuan Chung Chen- Tai Chi Master.

Kuan newly to the United Sates was offering to teach Tai Chi. Nick on a Friday evening with a group of his friends answered the Ad. Kuan arrived to the front door barely speaking any English. Kuan showed Nick and his friends just how strong he was and in that moment the phrase “HIT THE WALL” was coined. A mutual friendship and bond was formed to the point in which Nick offer to sponsor Kuan.

Kuan then went to England School of Acupuncture, NESA, “(the oldest school of acupuncture and oriental medicine in the US). In addition, Kuan Chung Chen (Median) is a Master of natural energy healing. While practicing under his father in Taiwan, he has helped many people with both their physical and mental problems through the natural energy practices of Tai Chi and Qi Gong.” http://www.taichi-wellness.com/about_us/about_us.php

Nicholas a native of Danvers, MA got his schooling from Danvers, High and the University of Florida. At a young age, he was always eager to explore the world and open to all life experiences. Once Kuan graduated from NESA the idea to open an Acupuncture and Wellness Center came to fruition. After countless hours of demolition and labor Tai Chi Acupuncture and Wellness Center LLC was formed and opened its doors in 2013 In North Reading, MA. Nick operations manager and president sat at the front desk answering phones and booking appointments via Google calendar. Soon the wellness center took off, offering Tai Chi classes, Yoga, Hypnotherapy, Reiki, Therapeutic Massage and psychotherapy sessions, with a goal to help others connect with their inner selves and provide a holistic way for people to be relieved of their pain. Whether it was from Stress, Anxiety, depression, PTSD etc.

As of August 22, 2017 Tai Chi Acupuncture & Wellness Center extended to a second location in Medford, MA offering Acupuncture, Acupressure, Therapeutic Massage and Chinese Herbal Medicine.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

At Tai Chi Acupuncture & Wellness Center our goal is to create healthier and happier people by providing quality care and alternative healing therapies to those in need. While there will always be a place for Western Medicine, we take a different approach to health and wellness.

Our programs, classes and treatments focus on bringing balance to mind, body, and spirit. Our bodies are amazing vehicles, and we are just beginning to understand their full capacities. Our intention is to teach others that the path to a happy and healthy life lies within each and every one of us.

We currently offer Tai Chi Beginner and Intermediate Classes, Acupuncture, Acupressure, Therapeutic Massage, Reiki, Yoga and Meditation classes, Chinese herbal Medicine.

Our Wellness Center provides a safe healing place for all walks of life. It gives us great pride to know that we’re helping people heal no matter what ails them, We’re often a last resort when they’ve tried everything else. Our goal has always been to provide a clean, peaceful setting with services that change people’s lives for the better.

What most people don’t know is that all of our treatments take place in a private room setting. Unlike the community acupuncture settings. We also accept insurance which many clients are surprised to hear! Another aspect of our business and seeing a trend is how Acupuncture and Acupressure is helping children at a young age. So it’s great we’re helping people in a wide age range. We also offer a 30-minute free consultation with Acupuncturist Kuan Chen to answer any questions or ease any hesitations that one may have a regarding their acupuncture session.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Kuan: “Because I grew up in a Tai Chi School, in the beginning people went there for health issues, The school became a place for everyone to go. It became a huge family; people get together a lot. That’s something that I hope to establish here in the states. When I grew up I was surrounded by elders and listen to their words of advice and take care of me, Because I was so young and made me feel good.” In Taiwan, we go out to eat in my culture and gather, I miss it, and was a great memory.”
