Today we’d like to introduce you to Darya Heras.
Darya, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I went to a cosmetology school back home (2 year Associate degree). I also have 3 years of Linguistic University which I never graduated from because I went for American Dream in 2005 and immigrated to MA 🙂
Frankly speaking, I have never been into salon business at all, never thought I would open one. Everything started from the Nursing School which I attended here, in the US. So there I was, a simple American nurse (as my manager liked to say) working as a clinical nurse in the beautiful state of Massachusetts. At some point I started freelancing as a Botox/Fillers injector. Then I met my lovely friend, Natalya who worked on Newbury Street as a stylist. After some talking and being inspired by South End (I came here for yoga classes) I decided to open a med spa/salon type of fusion which has worked great for us since then.
What has been the biggest challenge or obstacle?
Money-money-money… I stared with an extremely small, budget. Had to sell a couple of things here and there. Eventually it worked out, it always does…
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Briefly we do =HAIR =SKIN CARE=LASHES
*European style of cuts is our pride. I have to say we do have a much better cosmetology schooling back home. Very much in-depth.
*My specialty are Botox/Fillers/Chemical peels/ good old sometimes forgotten Dermaplaning.
*We also do a lot of fusion keratin bond Italian hair extensions. Perfect for fine European type of hair texture. So invisible that when we take them out we have to look for them in people’s heads))))
*One stop beauty shopping!
* Punctuality. We NEVER make a client wait longer than 15 min. And if we do run late we ALWAYS call and let them know, always.
*spotless clean. We do get a lot of compliments for this.
* where else will you have a nurse cut and color your hair?))
* We are known for sponsoring beauty pageants or beauty pageant contestants. We do have 1st prize winners, our pride!
What were you like growing up?
I was taken to a foster home once to visit (my grandmother’s friend worked there), and I was so impressed. Very sad, I felt so lucky I had family! I couldn’t really help those kids much growing up as I grew up in a poor family and couldn’t afford much! However when in business I launched a small local charity projects here in South End. Called KID’OTRONICS. We ask people bring us old electronics. Then we sell them and donate to foster homes, The Home for little wanderers in particular.
