Today we’d like to introduce you to Sven C. Oehme.
Sven, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
The European-American Business Organization(EABO) was founded in 1999 to serve as a “one-stop shop” for transatlantic business development offering small to medium-sized companies, governmental economic development agencies and non-profit entities a network of resources for their market entry on both sides of the Atlantic. EABO uses its wide-ranging business networks on both sides of the ocean, as well as proprietary databases to identify the right target audiences.
In 2012 and 2013, EABO worked with the European Connect Health Alliance (ECHAlliance) at their EU-US eHealth Marketplace events in Boston. In 2014, EABOalso organized and executed a breakfast event, individual meetings and a tour of the Cambridge Innovation Center in Boston for the Prime Minister of Latvia and her delegation of Latvian firms representing various industries.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There are always companies thinking that “they know it all” and don’t need any advice when it comes to their market entry plans. It can be very tough to convince them that they need a clear strategy to face the challenges in a new market. Thankfully the EABO team knows how to craft and communicate the right messages to ensure high value-added contacts for those seeking cross-border profits, and most of the time it is possible to steer those companies into the right direction.

EABO offers a multitude of services such as market entry and expansion strategy, EU compliance such as CE Marking and REACH, cross-border tax strategies, strategic partner search, international trade show planning, public relations strategies as well as legal assistance. EABO has also organized many successful matchmaking events between Europe and the United States and is specialized in organizing successful trade missions. One of the big advantages of choosing EABO as a consulting firm is the fact that the EABO team comprises decades of experience in this field and speaks the majority of the European Union’s principal languages.
It is also very important for me to point out that The European Commission appointed EABO as the first Euro Info Correspondence Center (EICC) in the U.S. in 2005. It is now part of the successful organization called Enterprise Europe Network, the world’s largest support network for small and medium-sized enterprises. Since the network is active in more than 60 countries worldwide and brings together 3,000 experts from more than 600 member organizations, EABO has the capability to reach out to many resources that can be helpful in succeeding on both sides of the Atlantic.
How do you, personally, define success?
Success for me is when my company was able to help to fulfill the dream of a small to medium-sized company to enter its target market effectively.
