Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Earle and Nancy D. Coppola.
Robert, a lifelong Newton resident started the road into the Real Estate field at the age of 18, but if truth be told, he has been around this business since he was a toddler, having grown up in a family of Real Estate brokers and investors. Robert began getting his feet wet when he started managing the properties for Earle Realty Trust, and the Jacqueline Earle Investments Trust. At the age of 21 he secured a three million dollar loan to acquire more real estate to add to the families’ already existing portfolio. When he was 27, Robert, along with his sister Nancy formed The Earle Coppola Team-The Brother and Sister of Real Estate. In 2013, Nancy graduated Summa Cum Laude from Lasell College. She was presented with the highest honor a student can receive in their major, The Book Award in Business Management and Finance. After her graduation, they both decided to attend the Academy of Real Estate.
Both Robert and Nancy are experienced in all areas of this business, from buying and selling, to renting, leasing and developing both in residential and commercial. Having also grown up around the families other business of painting contractors, this is a great advantage they can bring to their clientele. They know what to look for in the structure of a property, for example, if there are any hidden repairs that maybe overlooked by the buyer, but will not be overlooked by the trained eye. They are also able to help the seller in getting the needed cosmetics to sell their property and not at an over the top price.
Buying or selling a home is one of the largest purchases a person will make in his or her lifetime. It can be a very exciting moment but it can also be a very scary moment and that is why they are here, to help make it exciting and less frightening. They want to make this experience for their clients go as smoothly as possible.
It has been a great honor for them in assisting their clients in their purchases. As they see it, a house is made of bricks and beams, but a home is made of hopes and dreams and they are happy to help them make their dreams come true. They look forward to making more dreams come true with future clients. And it is not just about helping those buying a home, they also assist their clientele who are selling their property. They realize that this can be a difficult process for many, this is where countless memories have been made and closing that door for the last time is not always easy. That is why they will be there to make the transition as easy and painless as possible.
Earle Coppola Real Estate’s plan is to stay ahead of the other brokerages and by doing this, they offer every client a unique cutting edge marketing technique for their properties, as well as their personal attention and marketing expertise. They also offer competitive commission rates. They are able to do this due to the fact that they do not have a big parent company to “kick up” to. Giving that, they have the ability to beat out any other company’s commission rate.
Both Robert and Nancy are planning to hold seminars. One focus will be on the ever struggling millennial home buyer and in doing this they will guide them in the best direction according to their lifestyle. The company will also offer different events such as “Thank a Hero” program were they will thank all police officers, firefighters, and veterans for their service and dedication by offering them a $1,000.00 cash back at their closing.
EarleCoppola Real Estate currently has a team of five experienced and knowledgeable agents that are set to work in the Newton office.
The opening of the new brokerage has joined them together with Earle Realty Trust, the Jacqueline Earle Investment Trust, Earle-Coppola Development and the Fulgenzio Coppola Salon to form the new Earle-Coppola Organization.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
In this business, it is not always a smooth road. Deals can fall through, you see a lot of heartache and there are a lot of headaches but, it can also be very rewarding. To see someone reach their goal and see their dream become a reality of owning their own home is an amazing feeling knowing you helped them to achieve this.
There is a lot of competition out there, everyone has either a friend or a relative in real estate business. My question to people is, “If you were facing 20 years to life in prison, would you use your cousin that just passed the bar or would you hire someone with experience who has won many cases?” You should think the same way when hiring an agent. This will be one of, if not the largest purchase you will make in your lifetime and you want someone with the knowledge and the experience.
When you are a “boutique” company, you have the flexibility to make your own rules and your own decisions. You are able to help people out with commission rates among other things. The big name companies may have been good years ago but that is no longer the case. In most of these companies, you are passed around and not given the personal touch as you would in a “boutique” company. They tend to have multiply agents, thus the reason that commissions cannot be negotiated because they have too many to “kick up” too.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Earle Coppola Real Estate – what should we know?
What sets us apart from the rest, is we are a “family” owned business. We grew up eating and breathing real estate, it is in our blood. We did not just one morning wake up and decide to become Real Estate brokers, we have been groomed for this since we were old enough to understand this business. We have been taught every aspect and angle of Real Estate, from buying, selling, leasing, renting, and developing to investments in both residential and commercial. Another added plus we bring to our clientele is the knowledge of construction. We were raised in a family of Real Estate brokers and contractors. Our family has bought, sold, developed and invested in property for over 60+ years, they also own and operate a very successful and well know Painting Contracting business for over 70+ years, thus the reason we can bring insight to our clients both buyers and sellers on the structure and repairs of the property.
We have the advantage of beating out most company’s commission rates because we are a “boutique” company. The last 7 out of 8 sales resulted in us finding our own buyer and in doing this we were able to offer the home owner the commission rate of 2% versus the common rate of most companies at 5-6%. We are able to do this because we have the luxury of not having to “kick-up” to a big parent company. Another plus we are able to bring to the table, is we are associated with a various number of vendors and because of this association, we are able to extend a lot of these services to our homeowners saving them a lot of time and expense when preparing their home for the market. Our goal is to take the pressure and headaches off the homeowner after all that is the reason you hired us.
Our company offers many different programs. One example, our “Thank our Servicemen and Women,” this is where we give a $1000.00 cash back to the Police, Firefighters, First Responders and Veterans at the time of their closing whether it be buying or selling it is our way of saying “Thanks, for your service and dedication to our community and our country.”
One high point in contracting with us is that we are not a “hit and run” company. We are still here long after all the “t’s have been crossed and the I’s have been dotted.” We like to maintain a long term relationship with both our sellers and buyers should you ever need our services in the future. There is not a greater or more satisfying recommendation than that of a happy and satisfied client.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
There is one person in my life that I admire, that I strive to be like, and that is my late Grandfather, Robert H. Earle. Everything that I am, everything that has brought me to this junction in my life is due to what he taught and instilled in me. If I could be just a tenth of the man he was, I would be happy.
My grandfather grew up in the Allston-Brighton area, they did not have much in fact they were considered to be very poor. He would always tell me stories about his youth in hopes that I would learn from them but much more that I would appreciate all that I had. He stressed the need to achieve in order to have the necessities needed in life and that after you have achieved that, then you go out and grab life and never stop trying to better yourself, but most important, never forget and never be ashamed of where you came from and always led a hand to anyone who needs it. I remember one story of how he had to borrow a suit and tie in order to take his Senior High School photo because he could not afford one of his own. After high school he went into the Army and was sent to Korea where he was stationed at Pork Chop Hill. He received the CIB Medal (this is a medal given to a soldier who saw combat, my grandfather was right up there in the front lines) that medal was one of his proudest processions and is now one of mine. When he passed, my mom gave me the medal to keep and when I look at it from time to time I feel the pride knowing my grandfather fought hand to hand combat for this country. It was not until after his passing, I learned from that he did not have to go into the Army, he was an only child and only son, the main support of his family. He did not use that excuse to get out of doing his duty to his country that is why it sickens me today to see the disrespect that so many have for our country. After his return from Korea, he met my grandmother, Nancy and together they started William Earle & Son Painting which is still well known today and is currently run by my Uncle Robert Whelan. In the late 60’s my grandparents purchased their first home in Newton, it was shortly after in the early 70’s that they created Earle Realty Trust and begin to purchase income property. They began to purchase property in Newton, Waltham, Brookline (owning the home next to President JFK’s birthplace), Allston, Brighton and Rockland, they had a very impressive portfolio of property as well as a very successful and well respected painting business. No matter how successful he became, he never stop pushing and he never forgot where he started.
Starting from the age of 5, I would go around with him to check on his jobs, to do estimates, going to order and pick up supplies. One thing about my grandfather, until the day he retired, he always did his own estimating and typing, he would type with one finger and was faster than someone typing with two hands and always on his original old typewriter, never the new state of the art typewriters. He had a little desk set up in his office and that was where I sat, my desk with my name on it. I remember I would sit and watch him for hours and try to mimic everything he did, he even got me my own estimating book just like his and I would walk with him and when he wrote in the book, I would write in mine. All the years of going with him after school, school vacations and weekends, I picked up a lot and I learned more from him then I could ever from books or school. I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be in the business of real estate and contracting, the two go hand and hand. But, most of all, I knew I wanted to be just like my mentor, my best friend, my idol, my grandfather. I only disappointed him once in his life and that was when I dropped out of college. He was very strict on education, he wanted myself and my siblings to have the advantages he was never able to have and his biggest regret was never having been able to go to college. I told him, as I mentioned earlier, no Professor and no amount of books could teach me about business or life like he could, and he was hands on with me.
He always told me to get into real estate, whether it be full time or part time but to get my hands in there. He said that I had two of the best qualities to succeed and that was my ability to get along with all types of people from all walks of life and my honesty. He said I was trustworthy and that people who knew me would see that quality and that was the best quality to have in any career I chose to do. After working with my families Real Estate Company’s I decided to go to school to get my license in Real Estate sales. I passed, I was in sales for three years. In 2016, I went back to school to become a Real Estate Broker and in 2017 became a licensed Realtor and Broker and in that same year I started my own brokerage.
In July of 2010, I was 23 years old, this was the year that changed my life forever, my grandfather passed away. There is not a day that goes by that I do not think of him, but in the 23 years I had him he gave me more than if I lived a 100 years. Everything I am, I owe to him. My goal in my life is to be the man he was, both in personal and in business. After his passing at his funeral, the people who came up to me, my mom and siblings telling us stories about my grandfather and how he had helped them. We were told about how grateful many were, one told us that they still had a roof over their head because he helped them at a time when there was no one who would and gave them what they needed so their home would not be foreclosed, stories of how he helped people with medical bills, etc., we were even told about how he helped a complete stranger after hearing about their plight from a friend. We were stunned, not stunned at his generosity but stunned of not knowing what he had done. He never forgot the struggles he faced growing up and tried to help those who were struggling because he knew what it was like when there is nowhere to turn. My goal is to make him proud but most of all to be the kind of man he was. This is why I have dedicated this business EarleCoppola Real Estate to him.
