Today we’d like to introduce you to Carsten Richner.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Ostwestfalen in Germany is best known for being the hub of the kitchen industry in Europe. It is home to 70% of all German kitchen manufacturers and suppliers. Native Carsten Richner began his career by starting from the beginning, learning how cabinets are produced, manufactured and constructed. Over the next 16 years, he became an expert in the kitchen field. Understanding not only how to construct the cabinetry but how to design and sell a functional and truly personalized kitchen.
Carsten saw a niche for this type of kitchen design in the USA market. He noticed that New England once known for its very traditional style was taking on a more transitional and contemporary feel.
Homes were being constructed with the classic New England architecture but the finishes being chosen for the interior were becoming cleaner, sleeker and more European in functionality.
It took a little over 2 years to make the move but in April of 2012, he came to the US opening his first showroom in summer 2012 at the Boston Design Center.
Has it been a smooth road?
The biggest obstacle Carsten faced was understanding how to seamlessly bring the European style and construction of cabinetry to the U.S. market. Over time Carsten understood how to incorporate European style and installation into the New England area. Since 2012 he has continued to grow and flourish. It is our goal that each client leaves us having had a truly personalized kitchen design experience.

We specialize in Transitional, Contemporary and Modern European kitchen cabinetry. Utilizing our 3D Cad System, allows us to present a true perspective on the design and layout.
Let’s use the car industry as a comparison. The car was once designed to bring you from point A to Point B. In the last 10 years alone we now have cars that can pretty much drive themselves. If we look at that and then compare it to the kitchen industry they run very parallel lines to one another. Cabinets that once opened with a knob or pull can now be opened electronically. Typically shelving units have been replaced with optimal storage solutions that allow each cabinet to take on its own purpose.
What sets us apart from others is being able to look at even the tiniest space and creating a functional and working kitchen. We are most proud of creating and implanting a step by step system for each client.
We start from conceptual design working through installation, guiding our clients through each phase of the design process. We understand a kitchen renovation can be challenging and overwhelming at times. Our in-house design and sales team takes the time to carefully speak with and understand what each client’s needs are.
