Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris McDonald.
Chris, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My Business partner and I were working for a company which is now a competitor of ours. Morally this company was not doing the right thing by its customers. Our job focused on sales and project management, so we basically were the face of the company. With ownership not wanting to change the way they have been doing business for years my partner and I made the decision to leave.
We had no money saved, very little equipment, trucks, supplies, and had no idea what the outcome would be but we knew one thing companies that do business the way they chose to don’t last. So we set out to conquer the industry. Day in and day out our main focus was growing the business and making as many contacts as possible in the industry and we knew once The industry saw the way we did business it would be impossible to do business any other way, or with any other companies. Like anything else it took almost 10 times longer than we expected, but today I can honestly say we dominate the board up industry in Boston, and all points in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Southern Maine, and Connecticut.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been anything but smooth, as I said previously we expected to hit the ground running and come out on top right off the bat. Boy were we wrong. The industry did want to do business with moral and professional companies, but they also wanted companies they knew would be around a lot longer than six months. So we faced extreme resistance from the industry at first. The major players in the game so to speak didn’t even entertain the idea of doing business with us. The people in the industry that we reached out to prior to us leaving our former company and had planned to do a lot of business with, all of a sudden turned their backs and we were on our own. I will say not all 100% but most of them did. From that moment on it was us against the world and to this day that’s how we look at it. But I can’t thank them enough because without resistance we would not be where we are today guaranteed.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with LaPointe Construction Board up Service – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Our business focus is securing properties after a major disaster, or catastrophic event. Fire damage, storm damage, flood damage, vandalism. We respond to the disasters and secure, window openings, door openings, any openings penetrated through the roofing material to secured and weather tight from any elements, or potential looting. Until permanent repairs have been made. We specialize in this type of emergency service work, and operate around the clock, 24/7 365. We feel that being a family owned company gives you a special touch in time of disaster. Our phones are answered by family 24 hours a day seven days a week so you always have a live person on the other end of the phone when calling in to request services for a disaster. We set ourselves apart from our competition in several different ways. It all starts from the phone call coming in being answered promptly and professionally, to the crew that gets dispatched immediately showing up in company vehicles with company logos, phone number highly visible.
Our crewmembers are all dressed in uniforms as well as all proper safety gear required. Our equipment is top-of-the-line, and our service is second to none we carry all the required licenses and insurance is for each state we do business in. We are most proud of the fact that we never gave up never stop pushing the needle forward and never stop showing up even when our eyes were bleeding.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our plans for the future are very bright! We are leaving a lot open, to be able to adapt and overcome new challenges in the industry, and my Business partner and I have our own separate goals in life. We share a huge common goal to scale our Business nationwide with offices up running and operating and all profitable. Building the company’s assets, and Equity into the multi millions. The only changes I foresee would be onward and upward always moving the needle forward.
