Meet Wacking Nicolas of Office Swing in Cambridge

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wacking Nicolas.

Wacking, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My story begins in January 2014 when I began working at a new startup company in the Fenway Park area of Boston. The company was located in a startup incubator space with other new companies that were also starting out with their own world changing ideas. The company I was working for was building a social media platform that was supposed to integrate very well with twitter and Facebook. After 6 months of being inspired by the startup community I began to think of ideas that I would be most passionate about. My professional background is in sales and financial services but I never felt inspired by either of the two. My passion for team sports was my drive that pushed me to start my company Office Swing. My goal was to organize team sporting activities for offices to help better reduce the pressures of the work place. As my idea grew I would learn that companies were looking for more than just team sports, but they were in need of affordable recruiting services, catered food delivery, and celebration events. After two years in business the company has created an excellent business model that has generated sales from over 100 companies.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not a smooth road at all. Here’s a list of my hardest challenges:
*Building a great business model that makes money
*Not having cash flow from the business
*outsiders telling you to give up and go back to the work force
*Finding a great community where you can grow and expand your ideas (I now have that)
*Recruiting smart people that understand the startup business
*Finding good mentors that are dedicated to really helping you
*Self-confidence is huge
*Creating a daily work schedule
*Generating Payroll for yourself
*Budgeting
*Creating a Great Business Plan
*Staying positive and not being negative
*Sacrificing for your clients (give your clients more than what they paid for)

Office Swing – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Office Swing is a creative service firm that improves company culture and the office environment. We organize Career Events, Team Sporting Activities, and Catered Food Deliveries for companies. Our overall mission is to make the work place fun, happy, and healthy.

What We DO: Office Swing makes it easy for companies to conduct company events. Our clients save time and money when a professional service provider such as us organizes there catered food deliveries, team sporting activities, and celebration events.

Our team specializes in corporate event planning for small to large office groups. Office Swing is mostly known for conducting awesome events for office teams.

What I’m most proud of as a company is the amount of corporate teams we’ve been able to help in a short period of time with our limited staffing.

What sets Office Swing apart from others, is our overall mission which is to help make the work place fun, happy, and healthy.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my Office Swing career so far has been just looking back at where I started from and looking at customer sales and thank you emails from clients.

That makes me most proud. We are two years into the business and almost going into three years. That is so awesome to me.
